And she's not just any girl. We were girlfriend and boyfriend when I was 3 and 4. So, real legit. Well, fast forward 13 years and I meet her my freshmen year at college during our swim test. We couldn't believe it. I kinda brushed her off because I was being a bitch/idiot and I ended up dating a train wreck (Read: crazy whore) that fucked with my emotions and made me embrace the single life. More money for car parts, right? Anyway, this year (junior year), really the past month, I worked on being a better friend, and it wasn't hard because we have the same friend group. So, I tried my best not to fall into the friend zone, and I made it out alive. I asked her tonight if she would like to go on a date this Friday, and she said yes. Well, really she said 'sure' with a big smile on her face. Anyway, I'm feeling pretty lucky. Thanks for reading. So, how do I afford car parts now?

You just have to accept that she'll buy some clothes or clothing accessory just as much as you'll buy car parts. When you don't have enough money for gifts, you just start paying for each others guilty pleasure, and then things get interesting.

Congratulations, there are few things as good as hearing the person you like has feelings for you as well. I would list hearing an engine you built fire up for the first time as coming close.

Going forward in life disregard the notion that the Friendzone exists and embrace the fact that you are interesting/attractive enough to land, what seems to be a pretty good catch.

Trust me I've done this before. An interesting, but not expensive, restaurant. If it's a movie after, find a drive-in, if you can't, take her to something that both of you can criticize, then you'll have something to talk about. No romantic comedies. No action-adventure. And no fuckin' Hobbits.

When I graduated from HS, I spent two years going to the local university before transferring out of town. Soon after I got to the new school, I met a girl that I had gone to HS with, but we were two years apart and ran in very different crowds. I asked her out, and four years later I married her.
