What would be the specs of the LTS if you were in charge of building the V version?
I would go all in with Z/28 and Z06 components. LT4, magnetic ride, those big ass carbon ceramic brakes, and get the best in the biz to do the interior right. Aero bits also like carbon fiber splitter, defuser, and all those things. This would apply to a LWB version if they decide to do that.

I'd do something crazy like a high revving V10 or something. There aren't enough cylinders in American cars.

Don't need an extra set of small high revving cylinders when you have one big ass V8.... but I would not exclude a V12 just like America has done in the way far past. Small high revving V10's and V12's are cool but a big V8 puts out as much or more power. That's what I liked about the previous N/A AMG V8's

Possibly go with the new trend of electric + gasoline? A 6.2 liter EcoTec3 V8 working hand in hand with an electric drive system that provides instant torque.
Or if this thing is really a big beast, let's throw a Duramax + Allison trans in :P
It definitely needs magnetic ride, massive brakes and if it's all-gasoline I think it should have north of 600 horsepower. Can we bring back the 8.2 liter?

I hope the base engine is the CTS V sport motor & the option up engine the LT1. But I totally agree the V, or V sport should get the LT4. The full fat 650hp version though, leave the detuned one (600hp) for the CTS V.

That gas/electric thing was always a favorite of mine ever since the Lexus LS600hL on 2007. Hybrid for balls not just economy. We dragged races an LS600hL and an IS-F at tech training on a Dallas toll road. It was pretty much a dead heat. Volvo is doing that with the T-8 XC90 and hopefully the new S90. An LT4 tied to an electric drive for more huevos?.... yes please! Power boost and technology...

id benchmark it against the Bentley Continental SS and target the S8, Alpina B7's, AMG's etc.
I'd shoot for a 0-60 sprint closer to 3 seconds. I'd use AWD instead and launch control. Magnetic ride and big brakes, but the suspension would still provide a comfortable ride. It would be a cruise missile not a canyon carver. Pricing would start just above the $100k mark to get the prestige yet undercut the S8. Maybe make a v12 option?

We need another V16. So maybe two 5.3's in line for a 10.6 liter V16 :D :D :D Or go all out and get two 6.2's for 12.4 liters :D
Hybrid + V8 would be nice in a luxury car though, smooth and silent take-off. Or flick the sports-mode switch and put down a fury of hybrid + V8 (+ supercharger?) power to all wheels.

Give some sort of sequential turbo set up, to make somewhere in the 600hp/1200ft.lb. range + extended range... Who cares about weight in a high class luxury car? Plus the Dmax is pretty quiet now days, even quieter with twin turbo's.

Screw every engine in GM's current catalog and make something bespoke.
6.0L DOHC V12 making 700-ish horsepower. No pushrods because they just aren't "modern" enough.
Magnetic ride with comfort and sports settings. No need for race or anything like that.
Big ass brakes ala Z/28.
Active exhaust for a quiet puttering around town or loud blasts down the freeway.
Fancy ass seats with adjustable bolstering ranging from "70's Cadillac" to "F1 cockpit levels of tight" Leather with alcantara inserts.
New interface on the infotainment system to monitor performance-oriented things like oil temp and trans temp. Along with a G-meter.
Wrap it up in a classy yet functional body kit, throw some big wheels with some amazing tires, call it done.

They've already got a sub-compact Spark EV with an electric motor capable of outputting over 400lb/ft of torque.
Pair the LTS-V with a nice, smooth supercharged V8 and hybridize it with some high output version of that electric motor from the Spark EV. Maybe one electric motor per drive shaft, with the engine power just the rear wheels? Make over 700 Horsepower and well over 1000 lb/ft of torque, while also claiming it's a hybrid.
Fund it.

Nah, fuck that. The new 8-speed in the Corvette has received nothing but universal praise for being the best torque converter anyone has ever driven. The shift speeds are every so infinitesimally faster than the PDK, while also being able to skip gears more seamlessly than a DCT can. Besides, this is a luxury vehicle and at low speeds, DCTs are too jittery.

I don't know about a V version, but there will be a top-trim level Vsport that will take on the S600, 760i, and S8. That version of it must make north of 500HP to be competitive. I'd love for GM to say, "We've been working on a V12 this whole time and nobody knew about it." But auto firms keep secrets like that about as well as a paper bag full of holes retains water. I'd be fine with it being vette powered but I don't know about everyone else. This car might need more than that to credibly pierce the $100k barrier.

I feel like this should be compared with the S-Class, A/S8, &-Series etc. So I say the new TT V6, V6+hybrid, and maybe a new Z06 engine detuned as choice of engines. Then a standard and LWB models. RWD standard and optional AWD. ZF 8-speed all around (because it is an executive car after all). And a plethora of features like SuperCruise and other things.
