Attention Ohio Area Opponauts!

So I have to go to Ohio to go to a class on the Federal Acquistion Regulation for a month (Oct 12th - Nov 8th), are there any must see/do/go-to auto events through those dates? Musuems, car shows, racing events, or just other cool shit to do. I get weekends off and I will have a rental car so I can get around, any suggestions are welcome!

Also this will be my first time back in 'Murica since I moved to Germany 18 months ago, what wonderful things must I do when I return to the greatest damn country on the planet?

Okay, in that area you're not too far from hocking hills either which is a bunch of state parks and nature stuff but also great driving roads.

I just got back from Cincinnati, I went to Columbus to Columbus Brewing Company. It's a great place to eat and have a few drinks. 10/10 would live there.

Unfortunately the FiST has to stay in Germany for the month but, I can always take my rental (probably a Versa, auto of course) out for some spirited drives!

The fastest car is a rental car. I lucked out and got a Mazda3 S one time. It was great.

My favorite rental was a 6-speed diesel Hyundai ix35 (Tuscon), I had a blast driving that thing around Germany.

Also depending how long you're in town for there will be a rallycross in the area on Oct25th I believe. $50 for non-SCCA members to enter.

Oooo, another thing if you don't mind driving a couple hours, Corvette Museum and factory in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Also James Dean's boyhood home in Marion, Indiana.

America's Packard Museum is also in Dayton

Dayton is also home to the Wright brothers so there are quite a few things in the area regarding them, their Cycle company and their Flights, if you are interested

Well that's shitty that the Miata is dead but, rallycross in rentals would be a blast.

I will have the weekends so the Corvette Muesum is definitely not out of the picture. James Dean is less exciting to me but if I've got nothing going on maybe.

Well I think a lot of gearheads don't know that Dean started Motorcycle racing before he was famous and grew into sportscar racing as an extension of that.

At the rallycross they will be renting an automatic Subaru but I want to bring my own rental.

Well, the food was still pretty amazing. I wasn't able to make it to Wright Patterson AFB, that was one of the major places I wanted to visit. And, I doubt you want to go to a Hofbrau then either. Whatever you do, don't eat Cincinnati Chili.
