This may very well be my favorite reasonably-priced SUV on the market today. It looks good from the outside:
good from the inside:
and has an incredibly premium, high-quality feel to it. Also, the VR6 in this is an absolute gem when it comes to smooth, quiet, sporty power in an SUV. I can only assume the diesel is also excellent. I drove one of these a while back, and I cannot overstate how impressed I was. Do I care that the Jeep Grand Cherokee is probably technically a better car? Not even slightly.

Although I prefer the TDI, the VR6 is perfect for the Touareg. It looks gorgeous in brown with 18 inch wheels. It's a shame that they don't sell more than they do. Also, the VR6 sounds amazing.

I have to agree with you, even though I'd rather have an old Cayenne. This is the best new SUV on the market.

I was quite surprised by that. It was quite throaty, and it revved up much higher and more eagerly than I was expecting.

A lot of the review I've read said the jeep was better value, and more reliable long-term. And they sell about a million times more of them.

Old Cayenne is great, but dear God it is the second ugliest thing on the road.

The VR6 in the Touareg is a peach of an engine SUV-wise. Since I'm 16, I'll be buying my first car in the next year or so. The current gen Touareg is high up on my list of potential choices.

I really doubt the long-term reliability is any worse with the Touareg. That's just anti-VW bias that journalists can't seem to get over from the early 2000s. I think it's funny since Chrysler is hands-down the most unreliable American brand...

SO MUCH AGREEMENT. Here, they sell one with a 360 Hp, 445 Torques V8 FSI engine!

I don't think it looks that bad. What is the first?

We also may be adding one to the family within a year or so, but it has stiff competition in the form of the XC70 T6, the Ford Flex Ecoboost, and a host of sports sedans.

Dude. V10 Touareg is on my car bucket list. BUT, R50 Touareg would be just something else. I have to import it from Britain though.

Reasonably priced*
Depends. how much do you make per year? :P
Although, having almost had a V10 TDI as my first car, I can't complain too much

I had another 16y/o comment on here that he may be getting a current one as his first car. So yes, it is all relative. For me, it is very reasonably priced compared to, say, a RR Autobiography or a G-Class.
