I drive normally most of the time but sometimes I like to open it up on an open highway stretch. Kick down a gear and let my LPT Saab stretch it's legs.

Speed had nothing to do with it. Nor does boring or spiritedness.

What makes you a safe driver is paying fucking attention to piloting 2 tons of aluminum and steel at 70 MPH down the freeway.

Most people cannot be bothered to do so, and are more interested in their makeup/books/shaving/texts/other mobile phone related crap.
