So in June my cousin was asking me for car advice for his wife. He is an ex-Jag XF owner, now driving a brand new XJ. His wife drove a 2004 Infiniti FX45 since new, now with over 150K on it. She loves it, but wanted something newer, sexier, and more fun.
What they wanted:
- 4-door or coupe or crossover - didn't matter
- not a dime a dozen (
rare
if you will)
- nice to look at and drive
- under $100,000
They were ready to drop a deposit down on a Macan. I told them that they should look at a Model S or an S7.
Here's what they got:
Not what I was expecting, but definitely a nice choice. Here's the best part, however. Due to him having a fair amount of Jags and with loyalty and all, they offered him employee pricing on it. While he could have had a new F-Type MSRP at $110,000 for $105,000. They sold him the XK-R that stickered at $110,000 for $78,000 - he got $32,000 off sticker.
I'll be driving it once I come home from school...

Maryland. I like the 'Murica plates better than the old state crest plates

At that price that is SERIOUSLY tempting. I also have an cousin who was told by Jaguar he could have an XK for about 80K when it normally would cost 120K. Mind you, he was looking at a 911 Targa and Maserati Grand Turismo.

I hated them at first, but I guess they've grown on me over time. The state has done a good job of switching people over - it's pretty rare to find the old one's on any car.
Luckily there is a fair amount of options for plates in MD, like my O's plates (besides the fact they've been stolen twice here in Connecticut).

Yeah, while the car really isn't anything new or groundbreaking now (still one of the sexiest cars available), he pretty much saved a BMW 320 in discounts. I'm pretty sure that is also because the demand for these is super low.

Exactly. Also, that refreshened model is not that common. F-Type though...

Carnelian Red really does the XK justice. It looks gorgeous. I saw one almost exactly like this one at Starbucks last week. I told the owner that he had a nice XKR, so he let me sit in it while he started it up. It sounds glorious.
