The BBC has a cool posting up with a brief video about what it was like flying the SR71 Blackbird. The technology is amazing even today. What a machine.

The plane is just incredible. I remember reading somewhere that the tolerances of the plane are as such that you have to keep the plane cruising above a certain number of Machs, otherwise it would disintegrate. The hull is made to operate under immense pressure, and applying to little would lead to its conpromise
