Well if all goes according to plan, I should have that Volvo V70R by Wednesday! I just have one question. Im 16. Can I legally have the title in my name? Google is not giving me clear answers at all. Im in Florida and its a cash only private sale if that matters. Thanks for your help! Have this GLK I found for your time.

I'd title it in your parents name for now for cheaper insurance.
BmanUltima's car still hasn't been fixed yet, he'll get on it tomorrow, honest.

Yes. There is nothing restricting a 16 y.o. from owning a vehicle. You do need a license to drive it, whether you own it or not, which you probably do have.

Yes you can have the title in your name, but it would be smart if you were a co-owner with a parent for the lower insurance. Insurance for a 16 year old male is outrageously high, so do anything you can to lower it. Hopefully we'll have another member in the Volvo club. :)

Yeah, both of my cars have been "owned and primarily driven by" my dad. I "only use it on occasion."
Insurance is about $40 a month this way, vs probably well over 100 if we were more honest.

I've been in the situation. You have to be full of money to pay for your own insurance, and it's better to have it on your parents policy.
Also, be wary about putting it in your parents name, once I registered the Escape in my mother's name, she immediately became bitchy and kept calling it her car, and tried to snatch the new license plates from my hands on the way back from the DMV (I was the passenger). I was the one paying for gas, buying parts, and was the one who bought the car itself, the insurance was paid by my mom.

Ill be doing the same thing likely. It makes things cheaper though because we only have two cars on this policy and three drivers (Civic is insured under Grandma). By adding a 3rd car, it "realigns" the drivers and only caused like a $15 increase (that was the case for the 850 I almost got)

Nice wagon! You shouldn't have any issue but as others have said it will be nicer on the pocket book to have your folks on there for insurance purposes.

Thats really why Im so glad to be a member here! I NEVER even thought about the insurance issues that would arise. I think ill just put it in my moms name. Itd be awesome to have it legally mine in my name, but it wont be awesome spending hundreds of dollars more to drive it.
