Selling my wife's MINI Cooper Convertible to get her another convertible that can hold 4 people humanely. Listed it last night and got the first call this morning. No sweat.

BUT, now I'm at the cross roads of listing my VW CC R-Line. I've been struggling with what to do for a month because I really need the functionality of a few vehicles, but within the same budget as my CC which I love, love, love. I've pondered buying two vehicles: 1 SUV and 1 sports/weekend/HPDE/track day car; or 1 nicer sports car a la an M3, 911, Cayman, etc. and just dealing the impracticality of strapping mountain bikes to it sometimes and having to rent a truck a few times a year.

I think I'm going with 2 vehicles even if that means going cheaper on the sports car though as I am not sure I really want my DD to also be track day car. Too risky for someone who travels as often as I do.

4 person convertible, you say? I may have an idea... Rear wheel drive, V8, reliable, cheap parts, two doors, seats 6, Jalop as fuck...

Whatever happened to the idea of the 4-door convertible? I want one so badly. The only convertible options you have in this modern world are 2 seaters like the miata and the ilk, or a 4 seater where the rear seats are there mostly for show. Or for amputees.

Plus 1 on the 71 Olds. Doesn't even look too bad. I'd offer $5k and see where that went.

Sell the VW. It's lovely, but can it provide the combined pleasure of a 2nd Gen Range Rover and an e36 M3? (Or an option I've been thinking of trying, a non-M e36 coupe with an LSx swap. Might even be cheaper if you don't mind turning your own wrenches on that project.)

Very nice.

Mine was from the original owner. He special ordered the car in triple turd brown with a 455 and factory dual exhaust manifolds.

He no longer had a place to store it after his friend started to rent out the garage it was kept in.

I showed him the Cutlass I restored and then he sold it to me so I could take care of his baby.

I got mine from the original owner too - my great-uncle. He special ordered it in brown on brown with no options at all. Then he had AC added to it in '83.

The 4 seat convertible is for my gents. She is not Jalop, at all, whatsoever. So I'll be getting her a G37 convertible most likely as that is her favorite.

For pure entertainment I'd love to tell her we are going to see a go and spring one of these beauties on her and film it.

That's the direction I'm leaning too. There isn't another sedan under $40k I'd rather have than my CC, but it just doesn't check either of the boxes I need. It is a pain in the ass to strap bikes to, or try to haul anything bigger than a carry on suitcase and you could never take it a Autocross.

But I'll miss it on the highway and in about every other way. I get compliments on it at least once a week, love driving it, sigh.....

The roommate has a G35 coupe. It's a (slightly) underpowered fatass without any style at all. It's like the clay model melted in the studio lights and they put it into production anyways. The seats are uncomfortable for anyone over 5'8" or 150lbs.

If she's not Jalop, now is the time to fix that. Go for the Delta.

That isn't how this game is to be played my friend. If I get her what she wants, I can get 2, count 'em 2 cars I want. No need to play with fire on what she drives when that could affect an M3 being in my driveway pronto.

She's Jalop aplenty. Her car before this one was a 1998 BMW M Roadster that she could turn you white during a ride in it. She drives her MINI like she just robbed a bank.

She likes G37's and Lexus RX350's make her want to vomit. She's good.

Okay, fair enough. I still don't like the G35 or G37.

Good luck on the M3. Post pictures of it so I can remove the kidneys.
