Just so that more can see my nice mishap at Summit Point. It was a good hit. Main view from my kart. (Jump to 6:00 mark for the action)

View from the other kart (much more intense)

Stay safe out on the road. You are a little more protected than I was. I didn't get hurt at all though. Just a wound on my back.

Thanks, didn't feel a thing when I landed. Still didn't feel anything afterwards. Adrenaline or whatever.

If you're looking to get into karting you found the right person here. The racing I'm doing in the video is known as road racing, where you race on actual car tracks with higher speeds and with purpose built karts that you laydown in. You can still run sprint karts though. Sprint karts run at sprint tracks of course, where you get the "traditional" kart experience. If you're in a reading mood go through this series of articles:

What region of the US are you in also? (East, west, mid west)

Thanks for the info, I'm in the Northeast.

You know, I have no idea why I didn't get badly injured. When I got tossed out I sat on the ground for about that one second and got right back up. In that one second the shock of what just happened set in, and after that second went I realized I wasn't in any pain and got right up. Even after the incident the pain was very minor. With the way I was looking behind when I spun out it's really a miracle I didn't hurt or break my neck.

Was that a Leatt Brace, or just a foam collar you were wearing?

Northeast. You would fall under WKA sanction then. I'm guessing the New York state area?

Eh, whatever. I have a friend in Troy and she says it's boring as shit up there, so plenty of time for karting! I'm serious, we should do this.

Just one of those foam donuts that doesn't do much in a crash. Next year when we (hopefully) get into shifter CR125 karts, I plan to get a 360 Device.

A track not far from you that has actual rental karts would be OVRP . According to the website you can also rent faster 2-cycle karts, the true racing karts. That's how you get your feet wet. Then from there you can form a budget and purchase a used kart and gear. I suggest a 2-cycle sprint kart, the KT-100 is a good motor. If your budget allows and you feel confident, you can get a TAG Kart, with a 125cc motor. Initially you'll find the world of karting very complex and loosely defined. If you stay with it though it becomes simple. If you have any questions at all just shoot me a reply. I'm a walking encyclopedia when it comes to karting.

Very nice. I had heard there was an issue using a Leatt Brace with a Kart/Car-spec helmet (it's designed for Motocross after all), great to see there's one made for Karting.

I was just looking at their website! I'll probably sign up for a full day racing school, then go from there. You've been extremely helpful.

Awesome, like I told Brian I'm an encyclopedia when it comes to karting. I can definitely help you and anyone else new. Are you also in the Northeast? What state? I'm in Northern Virginia also.

Glad to be of help. I'm always trying everyday to spread the word of karting. It's one of the best kept secrets in sports, and it shouldn't be a secret anymore. Once you get a race kart though, it's the best shit in the world. Well, outside of a bed I guess.

You're closest track would be OVRP also. NJMP is also not too far, both are about 2 hour drives on google. Go there one weekend and get in one of the rental karts. Apparently at OVRP you can also rent a TAG 125cc two-stroke kart. Those are pretty fast for a beginner, but a 2-cycle kart is where you'll find the true karting experience.
