So Up Until I Read the 370Z Review

I didn't know the car had been refreshed.

I thought it still looked like this with the bumper with the bottom teeth in the grille:

Kinja'd!!!

I didn't know it was updated to look like this with two tacky LED strips on the bumper:

Kinja'd!!!

So how long until the new Z comes out?

I mean, I always liked the 370 (especially that VQ engine,) but it's getting old.

i didn't say it on the review, but the only time i've seen one of these on the road was during the detroit floods, getting towed because it was lowered lol

I've only seen a couple of them. It seems like most people bit the bullet and spent the extra cash on a G37 Coupe.

I like it more than the BR-Z/FR-S for sure.

I'd get a Genesis coupe over all three of them personally.

. . . you like the VQ? That's strange. Although, they do sound particularly good turbocharged. I am going to post a video about it.

I do actually. I love the noise they make. Whenever I'm behind a VQ powered Nissan/Infiniti I can hear it and it's just lovely.

In person, I find the 350Z has actually gotten better looking over time. I don't think the 370 will age as gracefully.

My dad has a 350z coupe with an automatic and I did not care for it at all. That might have something to do with not wanting to mess anything up on my dad's car (he got upset about a light scratch on his truck once) and hating driving in Florida. Also it's like looking out a pillbox out the back.

I don't think I could ever bring myself to buy a Hyundai. I know they are so much better now, but I can't get the past image out of my head. Same with most domestic car brands...

you know what, you're right. I've seen a lot more G37's.

I mean, they said AS TESTED the car cost 51k. If you have that cash you may as well buy the Infiniti

I actually don't know if the engine is good or bad, but I have heard people talk bad about the sound. I think it sounds really nice with some long tubes!

Me and you are hardly even old enough to be around to see the truly shitty Hyundais, or even American cars.

Keep an open mind. I try not to hold a companies past against them.

I said on the FP I'd have either a nicely optioned Cadillac ATS or a nicely optioned GMC Canyon.

I mean I know they are no where near the style of this car, but I'd rather have them for this cost

If you got a 3.6 ATS coupe it's kinda similar. And probably much nicer.

A Z with a V8 sounds so wrong.

with an automatic

There's the problem. Now I'm not one to bash Automatics, but a Z should be manual I think.

The 350z being a 5-speed auto probably sucked more fun.

You had to actually drive a 1990 Hyundai Excel to appreciate how truly shitty they really were. Dated a gal back in 1989 who bought a new one...tried talking her out of it. The engine seized after 2 days and 130 miles. Never talked to her again.

Two days.

As in 48 hours?

Oh hell no.

Yup. And it was actually less than 48 hours.

It beat the worst Yugo record for detonation I know of by about a day.

LEDs + "normal" grille > teef in the grille

The 350 and 370Z both frustrate me. I like the way they look, but then I go drive one and always end up disappointed. They're no better to drive than the equivalent Infiniti G, except the styling makes for a much more cramped interior, and truly horrendous outward visibility.

Trying to see anything behind you in the convertible with the top up is hilarious. At least until that oncoming semi truck you didn't see plows into you when you try to merge onto the highway.

I hate those beep boop driver aids like blind spot monitoring, but since you can hide an aircraft carrier in the Z's blind spots, I'd probably go for the blind spot monitoring.

Or, you know, just not get a Z.

Maybe, but a turbocharged V8 from Nissan's stable would probably make more power and torque than even the VR38DETT, which would be commercial suicide. A turbocharged V6, on the other hand, could give the Z-car some 911/M3-like performance, and fill the gap between the current 370Z and the GT-R.

She did nothing except drive it a few times.

I actually picked her up and checked the car when it happened. No leaks, no fluid spewing, nothing. Turn the key, starter wouldn't budge that piece of welded shut crap engine. Pulled the dipstick and there was also no oil registering whatsoever. Either it was underfilled or not filled at all with oil from the factory.

Truth be told, I couldn't contain my laughter, and knew I wouldn't be seeing her again.
