Time for the second edition of Guess That Engine, I'll give you some specs about the mystery car in question and you all need to guess what engine powers it. In order to win you must find out the number of cylinders, displacement, fuel and the engine configuration. EDIT: The winner is duurtlang and the engine was the 2.3 VR5 from the Passat!

Rules:

No internet searching, all you have is your gut and powers of deduction.

Volvo 850 2.5 Straight 5?
It's not exact but it goes 0-60 in 8.9 seconds. It's 183.5 inches long. It's a Mid Size sedan from the 90s. Top speed is 134mph. It is very close.

I only searched the image. My freind owns this exact one.

Probably an e36, possibly the 320i.

Was that an M50?

Straight 6, gasoline, 2.3 or something.

I was going to guess the M50 6-cyl as well. Was thinking maybe an E34 5-series, though.

Edit: Nope...the E34 was way too heavy to be the right car.

2888 lb??? Is that weight of the engine or the car? My guess is diesel Benz W123.

I'm going with a Taurus SHO. V6 3.4l (I think?) with about 210HP. It's the only car from that era I can think of that would get that bad MPG with that low weight. Runs on premium (91) I believe, no less.

Alt choice is a Contour SVT (very similar to the Taurus SHO) which had the same engine, I think.

I would say a 90s Maxima, but I think they were shorter than that, and got better MPG from their 3.0l SOHC V6.

EDIT: Not even close, nevermind.

I didn't realize how fast the SVT and SHO are.

A Saturn Ion Quad-coupe is the next best choice, it's stats are almost exactly right, but not quite it either. I disqualified myself by doing some google searches though, knowing that I wasn't going to get it off the top of my head.

I'm terrible with 90s and European cars.
