As I was cruising at 70 in a 65 in the left lane, an xB ahead of the car in front of me merged into the right lane, and slowed. As I approached the xB to pass, merging traffic was joining the highway and the xB driver slowed and signaled to move back into the left lane, in front of me. I was going much faster and saw her coming, so I slowed, not thinking she was going to try for the gap. But she did. I flashed my brights to show that she had made an error, and she BRAKE CHECKS ME. I flash again, honk a short honk, and we continue on our way. Once she is back in the right lane, I pass her and as I do, she rolls down her heavily tinted window and FLIPS ME OFF, sticking most of her arm out of the car. I likewise flip her off, say "fuck you too" from inside my car with all my windows up, and continue on my merry way.
After being in front of her for MILES, and noticing her burnt out right headlamp, I exit where I need to get off the highway, and she follows. On the offramp I motion to try to get her to roll her window down to tell her that she should have stayed in her lane, NOT brake checked me, and that I had it all on dashcam so all of YouTube can see her.
Apparently, she had called 911 and I heard the dispatcher over her bluetooth/radio speakers. So I continued on as normally toward home. She then got in front of me, and when we got near the police station she signaled. "Why not?" I said to myself. If she's going to give an officer some bullshit story, I want to be there to give my side and show them my footage. Plus, I did not want an officer visiting my house later that night.
So we park, she scampers into the station, I follow at a distance behind her, and with her phone still glued to her head, she meets with a non-police officer (game warden? I forget) who sits her in a conference room. I wait in the waiting room outside.
Soon an actual police officer arrives, tells me to stay put, and goes in and talks to her. I cannot make out what is being said. The officer then comes out, gets my info, and I tell him what happened, and that I have it all captured on my dashcam.
He goes back and talks to her, she makes some disgusted sounds, and they let her go. The officer tells me to wait until she is gone to leave, and we start talking about the dashcam, and he mentions "I'm inclined to believe you, she... she's... well her story doesn't match yours. She said you followed her off the highway but you obviously live off that exit" and I tell him "Plus, she was behind me the whole way."
He says she doesn't want to press charges (of course) and unless I do.... "No," I say, "I just wanted to tell her she was in the wrong, and that she has a headlight out".
"Oh!" The officer says, "I'll be right back."
I hope he gave her a verbal warning about it.
So he comes back, we talk about my dashcam, why I have it, and he says it's probably a very good thing to have in an event like this, or an accident. "Haven't been in one of those yet!" I joke, and I get in my car and head home.
I hope this lady learned a lesson on driving etiquette today, and doesn't make that mistake again of brake checking someone who just flashed their brights at you to tell you that you were being a bit dangerous on the road.

This lady learned nothing. She's probably incapable of learning as her actions show.

I do believe you've talked about your dash cam before, what model is it, and where did you get it? I keep thinking it might come in handy one of these days.
As for the dingbat, she'll never learn. And she probably still thinks she was right.

I'm always nervous about situations like this where there is no dashcam. It becomes a straight up he-said-she-said deal so who do the cops believe?

It probably does, and I probably would have been at fault with no witnesses present, and being a male.

If I was the cop I would have beaten you both mercilessly for wasting my time. Maybe tazed one of you for good measure.

Believe me, they have nothing better to do in my town. But I would enjoy a good tazing, I bet.

Thanks. One more question, where/how do you have it mounted. I've got a radar detector mounted where the rearview mirror is. Could this be mounted at the base of the dashboard?

It had a good suction cup mount that can be used anywhere on the windshield. Mine is up behind the mirror on the passenger's side.

Too bad he let her go before you told her about the defective headlight on her car. He could have at least given her a headlight ticket.

You think that little maneuver was bad? Try driving in the SF, SJ Bay Area! I feel like I'm fighting for my life when I'm on the road.

She had gotten IN her car to leave, but the officer went back out to talk to her when I told him about the headlight, and not wanting to press any charges. I think he gave her a verbal warning.
