Be like the Challenger. Keep your wheels straight and true and don't look back. Eventually you'll find another girl along the way. :)

I don't think I will ever understand the point of 'homecoming'. It makes absolutely no sense other than a way to make high school students really care about something really trivial.

I don't give a fuck what it is about. I was going to use it as a first date with this girl but I instead got fucked out of something I was looking forward to.

I was a nervous teen who didn't know what the hell to do with girls. I sorted things out by the time I got to college. I'm certainly not perfect at relationships but allow me to share something that may help:

When it comes to dating, you don't have to worry about creating that perfect magical moment. That applies to life in general, but especially in high school where you're absolutely not in the market for serious long-term relationships. You have the rest of your life to worry about that. Just have fun.

Ask yourself this: what do you have to lose by asking some girl to homecoming? Either she says no and you're in exactly the same place as where you started, or she says yes and you've got a date. Which is exactly what it means: a date. Nothing serious. Maybe you'll have some fun at homecoming with her. It doesn't mean you're getting married. Just pick ANY girl who you'd have fun with, go with a group of friends, have fun, and don't worry about shit.

Maybe it turns into more dates. Maybe it doesn't. Either way, no big deal.

ayyy, that's how my past 4 crushes ended!

I've kinda given up for now. I have my car and several close female friends to joke about sexual shit with. Which is basically a relationship.

There's more than one girl at your school, right? Probably more than one of them is decent looking and entertaining to hang out with.

No worries mate, if your highschool is anything like mine it doesn't matter too much. I took a different girl to every dance I went to and I barely talk to any of them anymore.

I have a feeling that most attractive girls at your school aren't actually bitches, and you're just intimidated by them.

But, if they really are all bitches, pick one that's less bitchy than the others.

And here's a shocking idea: maybe if you ask a girl to the dance, which gives her the opportunity to wear a nice dress, and have a corsage put on her by you, will make her be nice to you and stuff. Because she probably wants to have fun at homecoming.

The main point here is, in the realm of major life events, a high school homecoming dance is not particularly high up the list. Just pick ANYONE who seems like you could have a little fun with them, and go have some fun.

Kinja'd!!!2

You didn't get "fucked out of something" just because she told you no. She's not an accessory, she's a person. And like Atlas said below, most of the girls you find attractive at your school likely aren't bitches. Maybe if you stopped looking at them as things you deserve to have by your side and start looking at them as autonomous individuals with thoughts, ideas, and wants of their own you'd have better luck finding someone you click with. Seriously, everyone is trying to figure out who the fuck they are during high school. I bet there are at least a dozen girls you know who are as gunshy about dating as you are. But nobody is obligated to be beholden to the fantasies you create about them inside your own head. If you see girls as actual people I guarantee you'll have tons of success.

Dude, it's homecoming. It's like the shitty fake version of prom for freshman and sophmores who can't actually go to the shit show that is prom. I went to all the school dances (not by choice, I was dating the class president, I do not suggest this to anyone) and they always kind of suck. In all my experiences it's much easier to talk to girls that I have already established some sort of rapport with whether it be through classes, mutual friends, clubs, sports, whatever it may be. But don't stress, you weren't going to marry her anyway and there are plenty of fun times to be had.

Three quick and relatively difficult life lessons learned.

1. No one likes to be put on a pedestal except sociopaths. She'll never date you unless you treat her as an equal. If you profess that she is out of your league, she probably is. At the same time never date someone who you feel is below you. Mutual respect is the key for any long term relationship.

2. Nobody owes you a God damned thing in life, especially women. Be interesting, have active hobbies, learn guitar and care about your appearance and you're giving yourself the best opportunity to succeed.

3. This pertains to her having a boyfriend. I've never seen a ring block a hole. She's not married to the guy. Go for it. Worst thing is she says no.

ah, homecoming. my junior and senior year I asked my best guy friend from a different school to go with me and he turned me down both times. he told me he didn't like me, and wouldn't date me. so I went out with another guy, had a GREAT time, got my first kiss, it was adorable. best guy friend found out, was devastated because OH HE WAS LYING BECAUSE HE WASN'T SURE IF HE LIKED ME BUT HE ACTUALLY DID AND NOW HE'S HEARTBROKEN THAT I WOULD CHEAT ON HIM. and a mutual female friend of ours who had a huge crush on him the same time I did called me a whore, rolled her eyes and walked away. and then I found out the really sweet and cute guy I actually went with was a 9/11 truther. SO. go stag! dance with other cute girls! and have fun. just make sure they're not conspiracy theorists.
