Look up the Fox Boss Project on here; basically, I'm improving my minuscule mechanical knowledge by rebuilding a 302 that will one day be put into a Mustang that I will make for my dad because why not. :)

Oh, the original Fast & Furious is full of such gaffes.
Supposedly they hired this guy RJ De Vera who was a sorta/kinda "famous" import tuner guy at the time as a script consultant. He's the guy who drives the white Civic in the first big race in the movie.
His one line: "Damn that guy's fast."
My theory is they might've had him as a script consultant, but they didn't have him proofread every bit of car jargon in the script.
