Ontario, Canada. Sorry to all you folks in Ontario, CA or Ontario, NY. And I'm sure I'm missing a few other Ontarios as well. Feel free to read and chime in! Many people probably feel the same wEH.
I'm seriously fed up with the way people drive in this province today. I haven't been driving for too long but I've seen driving habits of the general populace deteriorate significantly over the past 2/3 years.
When I started driving, people would signal. Not anymore. People are always on their phones now. People fall asleep at traffic lights (if you don't move when you get an advance green arrow, you deserve to be shot). Everyone commutes, and nobody drives... which is the way things are, but when you are in your car you should at least know what you're doing. I do a lot of biking and I go on the roads when I must. I've learned not to trust drivers. But now that I have a motorcycle I'm extra paranoid. "He's signalling left, but does he really mean to turn left?", "Is this driver gonna look up and see me before proceeding into the intersection?"
Anyways, I really don't want to rant about this on and on to the fine people of Oppo. I want to instead rant about this to the government, ministry, law enforcement, newspapers... whoever will listen. I've heard stories that are downright scary - like driving instructors passing girls because "they're cute" - and I am willing to spend some time and write some letters. Only problem is that I don't know where to start. So, if you are a fellow Ontarian who shares my point of view and knows who I should be bothering about this, please leave a tip.

If you think Ontario drivers are bad try crossing the border to NY. Minutes after entering Buffalo I was nearly side swiped.

As much as I'd love to increase the speeds on the highways, I don't think the drivers in this province are ready for it. If the ministry ever learns to educate its drivers well, then sure, let's bump up the speed limits. Plus, (as the website says) everyone speeds already anyways.

I've moved around quite a bit due to university and co-ops. London, Waterloo, Ottawa. Currently I'm in Mississauga and will soon be moving to uptown Toronto next month.

My mom lives in Thornhill. The traffic lights are absolutely terrible. I'm a computer engineer and it frustrates me to hell. They can definitely develop a better system.

Oh, you think the crappy drivers are your people, but you merely adopted the crappy drivers. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn't see the turn signals until I was already a woman; by then, it was nothing to me but blinding! The idiots on their phones betray you, because they belong to me.
Learned to drive in New York, lived in LA, currently living in metro Detroit, and frequently commute to Brampton, Ontario. Always a pleasant driving experience in your fine province.

though, I must admit i feel asleep waiting for a train once...I had pulled an all nighter the night before and was DEAD. Only ever happened once.

Do not, under any circumstance, come to Ottawa. You'll witness truly unspeakable acts of lunacy and incompetence on Ontario surface roads. And I'm a native of Hamilton so take that as you will.
