...got too much foam, risking the overflow. Sucked the foam. Coughed myself nearly to death.

It should be fine, as long as it's been kept at a stable temperature and not been exposed to sun it'll just get better.

I've had a Chimay Blue stored in the cellar for almost four years before I opened it, and it was just gorgeous.

inhaling alcohol hops and barley bubbles - great idea. Next thing we know you'll be butt chugging your beers! (Don't look up butt chugging... It's exactly what you think it is)

If it has been in a fridge for those 5 years the beer hasn't changed that much. It is a beer that can be cellared so you shouldn't have any issues. If you are going to cellar any more beers though the fridge isn't the best place to do it though. To age beers you want to keep them at/below/around 65 degree Fahrenheit. Pretty much 12-14 years it the max I'd take a bottle of beer though but really 5 years isn't bad, I have a 2 year old Cascade Strawberry waiting to be drunk. Some beers get better with age, some get worse, some just don't change all that much, and some turn into foam gushers.

no it was cellared for most of the time... i was holding onto it for a special occasion, and that fell apart ( but divorces are worth it ;) ) so i recently fridged it to drink it soon
