I see that's less of a barn find and more of a pigsty find.

I only posted mine because jbh doubted that I had everything from Chinese Mountain Dew to a Monty Python Arthur, and since I had the pics rescued at great difficulty from my phone for the reply post...

I did my part! I asked a question, not related to desks or AMAs or anything!

You really shouldn't. Nor should you believe half of what he says.
I lived with him for about 2 years. I should know.

Next time, please just make the title THIS IS THE [desk, AMA, etc.] THREAD, or something like that. If all of these desk posts and AMAs stayed within one big post, it would be no issue, but as it is, everyone makes their own separate post, and it clogs up OPPO, and buries quality posts that people may have spent serious time writing (or taking/editing/uploading photos for).
I love OPPO, and I don't want to change it, but with as many authors as we have here now, we need to all agree on ways to keep OPPO's popularity from destroying what's good about it. I love the (almost) anything goes nature we have here, but we also need to find ways to encourage great content creation. If a person spends a couple hours taking photos, editing them, writing up a detailed account and then posts it, only to get 50 views, 2 stars and one comment because it was quickly buried by dozens of frivolous posts, do you think they'll take the time again?
We're trying to catch all the good stuff and share it over to http://oppositeblog.kinja.com , but we don't/can't catch everything. I guess my suggestion is that we refrain from putting up posts just for the sake of posting. If you have something interesting to share or discuss, or a question to ask, great. But if at all possible, when it comes to something like we've seen in the last couple days - AMAs, desks, etc. - try to keep it all within one big post. Thanks.

I didn't even mean to start that. I just posted the stuff on my desk and someone said LETS MAKE IT A THEME. And so it was.

Also, I've been wanting to address this:
Let me preface this by saying that I've put time into posts before expecting them to get attention and hopeful for a FP, but they flop, and it sucks. But that's the reality of an open forum like oppositelock, in it's truest form that's what it is meant to do. Present some info, consume it, and move on. If it's not particularly attractive or not easy to consume for whatever reason, it will be overlooked for the most part. Yes, I see what you're saying that if the frequency of the nonsense posts is less, then *maybe* other good stuff will be taken note of more appropriately, but like I said any blog or forum inherently weeds out the junk, just scroll on.

Some posts flop, and it sucks when it happens to one you've spent a long time on. But I'm not really talking about that. I'm addressing the sheer number of posts on OPPO, and the ones that really should be responses, not additional posts.
As far as things getting buried, take this one as an example: http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/the-story-of-m…
It's absolute gold, but was buried by pages and pages of frivolous stuff and only had 80 views when I came across it.
As far as scrolling on, plenty of guys here have families and other commitments, and don't always have the time to scroll on and on and on... I'm not asking for people to stop contributing - that's what's awesome about OPPO - I'm just requesting it's done in a manner that makes sense and improves everyone's experience here.
