Things are actually happening in auto shop.
We worked on our teacher's Blazer that was throwing up I think 5 codes. One for a misfire in cylinder 3. The other four I'm not sure of.
He's managed to break an unbreakable engine. Poor 4.3.
Then again, the things been rolled over end-to-end and he put it back together and mended it himself, so major credit for that.
And as of today he has me putting together a Ford transmission.
I'm totally clueless on what Ford's transmission codes are. I took a bunch of pictures of any marking/sticker to see if you guys knew what model it was.
All I'm gathering is it's a Ford auto trans. Pretty sure it's a 4-speed unit. And I think he said it's out of a '92 Thunderbird.
Bonus picture of the school's donor truck.

Date code for Ferd products. F = 1990s, 3 = 3, so F3 = 1993. F6 = 1996.
Model designation. L = Lincoln Mark Series, S = Thunderbird.
Part Type. P = automatic transmission
Next four digits are the actual part number.
Last two letters indicate design change, or specific application. The AA code means there is no design change, while the BA code means the part has been revised, more than likely indicating an optional engine or gearing.
So, the tag tells us the trans is out of a 1996 Ford Thunderbird, and it's an automatic. If AA meant the basic 3.8L engine then BA means the optional 4.6L V8.

Isn't ATF the best smelling thing ever to have a scent? Just awesome isn't it? In fact it smells so great, that you should take some and leave it in a large open jar in your house overnight, like I foolishly did that one time I had to rebuild a tranny.

Luckily someone else took it apart and drained all the fluid.
I don't have to smell anything!

Oh you're not going to get away. You're still going to have to soak the clutch packs before putting them in, muahahahaha

As bad as ATF smells, Burned ATF is even worse, and i can assure you it tastes far more foul than it smells.
