My god, I miss this car. At least it's still on the road, now under the ownership of an old friend of mine, and is terrorizing the highways of Las Vegas.

Kinja'd!!!

Dad bought it new in '89 and drove it for 11 years, I drove it for 8, and my friend has had it for the last 6. 231,000 on the original clutch until a co-worker downshifted from 5th to 1st. 25 years old and she still looks good. Lowered (front only for a nice little rake), tinted, different exhaust, lots of Dinan parts in the suspension and ECU. 265s in the back, 235s up front on E39 540i wheels. Easily outrun, but not outcornered, by a Toyota Sienna.

A small fortune invested, and sold very reluctantly to cover absolutely ridiculous fines and penalties for a parking ticket where the nose of the Windscar protruded into a red zone by a mere 9 inches. Fuck you Los Angeles parking enforcement.

Nice car. I have an steptronic 840ci that I've rebuilt from the ground up literally. Am I an idiot or just a hopeless romantic?

Is romantic idiot an option? That would be the phrase to define me. All kidding aside, it's amazing the attachment we feel towards these inanimate objects, and how much cash we sink into them. I say spend the money and enjoy what you love.

Post some pics of the 840 when you have a chance. Pristine or beat to hell, I never tire of looking at E31s.

Sweet! Mine spent it's life in SoCal and Vegas, so drifting in the snow was never an option. Now that I'm in snow country I wish I had a RWD car; I can't toss the Mazda5 around with that level of style.

Lost my burner code. Here are some not so recent photos. Last thing I did was rebuild the valve body in the 5HP30 back in January/February. Car has a full on custom suspension with spherical bearings instead of rubber bushings. 850CSI front and rear sway bars, springs and wheels. Shocks were custom valved by Bilstein. Steering wheel was machined to fit and works with radio/cruise controls (still need to finish wiring up). Engine refresh went as deep as a new harmonic balancer, valve covers, full cooling system and a good cleaning. Pop up headlights swapped to European versions.

Car is getting repainted in the next month or so and I will be replacing the heater core in the next few thousand miles as preventive maintenance. Probably have around $20K in this pit so far, but it doesn't feel like a 4,000 boat anymore.

Sorry for the shitty photos. All I have.
