This was promoted on my Twitter feed. Some of the biggest bull I've ever seen in my life. Seriously makes me mad that people will probably fall for this bs.

Someone's been watching too much Pi.

There are mathematical ways to gain an edge in the stock market, but every time an edge is discovered, it's use immediately closes the profit potential. Sustainable gains just aren't possible. Exploiting those mathematical edges right now requires incredible computing power, way more than this kid can do by hand.

Not only that, but on-paper trading does nothing if you're not taking into account capital and the size of the market you're investing in. 1200% (over a reasonably long period of time) is easy if you're investing in small capital startups with only $5 in. Doing the same with $25,000?

But the fact that he's investing in the stock market at all tells me he doesn't know much about economics or finance, since it's probably the least likely market in the world where a mathematical edge would help you. Not only is so much of it being quant traded already, but a vast majority of stock trades are not well-defined and asymmetric information is rampant. It's like trying to corner a frightened animal with only your hands.

Put that mathematics knowledge into software development and create an extremely useful stock analyst software, and sell it. You'll make your $250,000 much easier that way.

Exactly. It's an obvious scam taking advantage of people unfamiliar with the subject. Technical analysis is a great tool but unless you can read the human mind it's just that. Ugh scammers.

I wouldn't even call this guy a scammer. He probably legitimately believes he's 'on to something' and probably is about 40% correct, but he's too sheltered and blind to understand what the words he's typing actually mean.

No it's definitely a scam. There are deleted tweets of his saying he met his goal a year ago. It's a well written persuasive scam tugging at your morals to help this kid through college and make yourself money. This kid doesn't exist. Nothing shows any credibility.

"I have found the perfect strategy to play the stock market. Therefore I need money."

Likely story.
