What did you do in the navy?

SWCC, I drove little boats and desert patrol vehicles. Spent some time on surface ships when I started out as a search and rescue swimmer.

Is being a fleet manager like being a pimp for cars?

Yep, a rare (now) native. Although I did live in Hawaii for a while. Live in Seattle, work in Bellevue.

That's cool. My grandfather was on fast attacks back in the 70's. I've been on a few old subs that are now museums. I've got a lot of family that's been in the navy.

What is your favorite color other than blue?

I live in Bothell and work in Bellevue. Always nice to find another local Oppo.

Kind of. I support a construction supply company, about 240 vehicles, mostly light duty trucks for our sales fleet. Everybody kisses my ass, and they don't really have to. I try sell the old trucks at the 4 year or 100k mark (whichever comes first) to employees at a huge discount. I buy new trucks for everyone constantly and they all want to be my best friend so they get the good options, in reality I have a standard template that everyone gets but I do let them pick the color.

Grey. It's just how we are in Seattle. It's either the ocean (blue) or the sky (grey).

That can't be a fun commute, 405 is balls.

I cut through Kirkland. 100th ave through Houghton up to 112th. The morning is easy. Shifting home in the afternoon is a different story.

I shoot down 99 (Alaskan Way Viaduct) then over to 99 at Edgar Martinez/Atlantic in the morning. I have to take the Mercer Mess on the way home. Amazon's SLU campus has REALLY fucked my town up. It's the main reason I'm going to move to Mercer Island next month.

Follow up question (related): how many times per week do you wear flannel?

At least twice if we're not counting underwear. If we are, 14 times a week.

Honestly I rarely cross the bridge unless I'm going to a game or there's a meeting I have to take in a meeting downtown. It's just so hard to get around.

Having grown up here I've noticed it's got so much worse in the last 5 years. In the 90's we blamed the Californians moving up for Microsoft and Boeing, but those companies have the common decentcy to be based outside of the central business district! Amazon and all the other tech giants here love being downtown or in Ballard/Fremont/Wallingford just enough to totally screw traffic.

Then twice. Usually. Winters can get that number up to 5 easily. I've got some nice Filson stuff I enjoy.

Exactly. Born and raised here. The Eastside is turning to shit too. I remember when Bellevue and Issaquah were separated by cow pastures, trees and a small municipal airport.

On 9/11 I was at Bangor, WA subbase going through ASDV (mini sub) pilot training, that class was burned into my memory when I was on the dock prepping my gear and my Chief came running down to tell us to get inside and watch the TV.
My grandfather was in the Navy as well, fought in WWII and was a bomb tech, what they call EOD now. Had a great career in mining when he came home, couldn't hear shit.

I went to BHS, Bellevue is crazy compared to when I was in HS there. Don't get me started on Woodinville either. The fuck happened there? When did that butthole become fancy?!

My grandfather was out of Groton. I got to "see" the base this summer when I was there. I also got to see a VA class going to sea. He went into nuclear power after he got out of the service. He was an EM1 when he got out.
