Something about these awesome lifted Volkwagens makes me want one!

Looks like he started off with some General Grabber AT2 (205/75R15 ) with a small suspension lift and later progressed to a much larger chunkier tyre.
^you can just see the skid plate fitted in this one
From the blog he/she is running the original motor with 340,000 +miles (these diesels seeming run forever if treated well)

That beetle is rad and the parts list sounds like it was done right too.
I have always thought that these look really good with a modest lift(like the beetle).
