I hate youtube commenters,

I was watching the latest /drive video, and while I don't subscribe to /drive+ I am amazed at the number of idiots commenting about them going to vimeo.

everyone is complaining that the content isn't free anymore, and most of the ignorant assholes evidentally cant figure out that the Mike and the gang need to eat as well as they do. and they cant do that living off of youtube ads.

I for the record am still watching all of the free /drive videos because I subscribed right before they went paid and so I still have a few hundred free videos that I haven't watched.

I will most likely subscribe to drive+ once I'm done, but not read the comments becuase reading the comments lowers your IQ

I think I lost at least 5 IQ points reading the last video's comments.

I subscribed to Drive+ mainly to compare the two over an extended period of time and so far I'm happy with what I'm getting. I feel now that they know people are paying for the content they are putting in a little extra effort to make every video great instead of hit or miss.

think of the comments as a game. they're all whining about the rules. and you cant do anything about it. I've been on youtube since it was really beginning. since around '06. a long time. i'm a veteran. the layouts change, channels die, people get blocked by media corporations, but the commenters never change:

they're a bunch of leaky assholes. they just can't seem to be able to do anything to stop the constant flow of shit out of their fucking stupid holes.

There is a Chrome extension that disables all YouTube comments. It is glorious and saves me if I have to show YouTube videos to high school students for my class.

much agreed, that is why I rarely read youtube comments, on smaller channels, I will read them occasionally because there are less assholes, but on bigger channels, its not even worth scrolling down the page.

You teach? my mom is a music teacher and teaches various classes from 3 year olds up through college (music at a private school, an after school band program and a morning middle school/highschool band, and the assistant director of the UIdaho marching band), and my aunt teaches 4th grade.

what is the chrome extension called?

I really appreciate my teachers in school (I'm a senior) considering all of the crap they have to put up with in the school system and the loons that run it (our state superintendent is not an administator or teacher, but has a business degree). especially my aunt who teaches in a public school, the crap she has to put up with is obnoxious sometimes. I commend you on teaching.

I don't have a bank account, my mom didn't want me to get one, but Ill get one once I'm 18 (2 months from now) but I still have to pay for insurance which is not cheap for a teenage male. (luckily living in idaho makes it much less expensive, and I'm on my moms policy which includes the house and her car insurance, so I'm probably only paying a 1/3rd of what I would if I was on my own policy). Granted 4 dollars a month even for a poor teenager paying for most of his own expenses minus food and housing is still pocket change. So ill most likely subscribe once I have a debit card.

Yes I do. My parents were dance professors and I guess some of it rubbed off on me. I teach US History, AP US History, and Psychology in a public high school.

I run this to hide YouTube comments.

I appreciate my students too, far more than our wacky non traditional NCLB tests, our crazy state system, the crazy local system, and everybody and everything involved. I may head for private education again once I get enough certifications to chase the top IB related jobs. It is so much more free.

whats ironic about the school that my mom teaches in is that they don't follow the standardized curriclulum (but it is like a regular elementary school, only catholic, and strangely enough, there are at least 4 teachers who aren't (10 teachers overall, not including aids)) but they score way above the state average (my class was often one of the top 10 in the state in testing, and its not limited to my class, thats just the example I know of). and its not a rich or picky school by any means either, tuition is like $5000 a year, and it qualifies for title 1, where another (public) school in our city doesn't because the income of the families there is too high.

That's like my old school. Students benefit when you don't make the basic level of knowledge (passing those tests) as something high up and important.

and I must say, I took the SBAC last year, I hated it, not that I liked testing anyway, but the SBAC was much worse (6 hours for the stupid tests, ugh) luckily as a senior, I don't have to take them.

Yeah, I heard that whole thing is wretched. So many money grabs at the expense of everybody in education. Glad you get to dodge it now.
