They are asking 18,500. Interior looks beat, but most BMW's of that era are like that anyway. Opinions?

IMHO, I would think it's worth around $17k or so. Factors: mileage, 6 speed, comp. wheels, fully loaded (sans nav, which is actually a plus in my book).
Slight CP, but not too far off.

Kind of neither. Price is about where the market is, mileage is below average, and its a good looking car despite the interior. Would be a steal at like $15k-16k, but the seller clearly has a decent idea of what he has.

I'd offer 15k in cash.

I figured it was within the "negotiable" range.

Yea, they probably priced it at $18.5k wanting around $16-17k for it.

Seems a bit a bit pricey, and it might not have a clean Carfax.

No mention of service records. These are solid but slightly finicky engines, an Inspection II and valve adjustment should have been complete recently. If you aren't looking to wrench set aside a grand for that service. Looks like a nice deal if the rest of the car is as clean as the exterior pics show. I'd go in starting at 16k and settle around 17k if everything else checks out.

As-is, VERY SLIGHT CP, but if he'll negotiate, that's a really nice e46 and I'd probably buy it for his asking price anyway if the guy wouldn't budge. But I'd try REALLY hard to get about $2k knocked off that price. It's on the high side, especially for here in PHX, even with the miles, but it has the right trans/that 3rd pedal, and it's silver on black, wheels, etc., so basically the exact M3 I've wanted since these came out.
