!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

I'm still potentially looking for an impractical/eccentric replacement for my 4runner which is very boring and grown-up.

I figure I'd end up spending 3-4k on consumables every year in addition to payments/insurance.

Is this a great idea or the greatest idea?

I'd prefer the Silver Nappa interior because of how damn sunny Colorado is, but this seems to be a relatively competitive price.....and lower miles is probably a more logical priority.

Seems to be a decent price, Autotrader is pricing them a little higher for 60k+ mile examples. If everything checks out, why not? You can also find 2008 E90 M3s in this price range now unless you're set on AWD.

On the other hand light colored leather shows dirt.

Set aside some (or a lot of) money for the inevitable electrical issues that will occur.

This is true....probably also something to consider given I live in Colorado.

Especially if the carpet is light colored too! Even if you use winter mats the winter slush finds its way into the carpets.

RS4's have issues (carbon buildup, DRC leaking, front control arms), but electrical issues are practically nonexistent.

It's a very nice price. But there are some things to check.

- Has it had a carbon cleaning done recently? Or ever? 4.2 FSI motors are prone to lots of carbon buildup.

- The Dynamic Ride Control suspension is prone to leaking. This has in the past been repaired with Audi picking up the tab. A common aftermarket replacement is a set Ohlins Motorsport coilovers...more comfortable, better handling and no leaking to worry about.

Verify if it's been repaired by Audi, or if it is running a good aftermarket suspension (Ohlins is very good and very expensive)

- Check the clutch, of course.

- Ask for maintenance records and be sure that oil changes were regular and that an Audi approved synthetic was used.

- Check the front control arms and bushings for wear.

Avus Silver though. that was a $2000 paint option.

Clearly, you've never owned anything made by VW/Audi/Germany. No one talks about the electrical problems in the RS4, because it's just assumed that you already know that everything electrical is going to break.

You're right, I've never owned anything by VW/Audi/Germany.

Except the Golf R I've owned for over two years.

and the B6 A4 1.8T Avant I bought new before that, and owned for eight years.

and the 200k+ miles I've piled on between the two cars.

Electrical issues between the two cars: one. And it was an inexpensive fix.

I have a broken wristwatch in my nightstand. It's right twice a day.
