Well then, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! is right for you. Saw it tonight and while I don't have 11 grand to spend right now, if I did I'd buy it tomorrow. Probably one of my favorite Mercedes ever made, just behind its even sexier Evolution brother. The cosworth is a bit of a sleeper too, unless you're Merc-afluent (I'm not, just a big fan of the 190).

Whoever buys this car, you're one lucky SOB. It's about as clean as you can get.

One of very very few Mercs that I actually like and would buy!

i really don't like that blue at all, but that is a damn fine example of a 2.3 16v

I'd definitely jump on it if I were actively looking. As it is if I change countries its probably what I'll look for in Europe.

I've driven several E30 M3s over the years, including a 325i convertible with an entire M3 driveline, down to the 5-lug wheels and the battery relocated to the "correct" position in the trunk.
I've driven two 2.3-16s, in some anger, on the gloriously twisty backroads of Fairfax County, Virginia and in the diabolical hills of Orange County, California.
I bleed blau mit weiss , but I would take the Benz every day of the week and twice on Sunday. I completely understand the BMW is better for track work. But, for fast two-lanes, and for everyday cruising, the Benz just absolutely rocks.

Which hills did you attack in OC?
I live in OC and have looked everywhere for good driving roads. But any good ones I find have super low speed limits.

Same here! I saw one of these a few weeks ago on my daily commute. Such a perfect looking car in person, so classic.

Not sure. It was easily 5+ years ago. We were guests of the MB Classic Center in Irvine, and they took us on a drive. There were lots of two-lane hilly roads without much in the way of guard rails, what I like to call "one-chance" roads.
And I didn't say the speed limits weren't low.

"And I didn't say the speed limits weren't low." True :D
I need to go through the hills again. See if I can find some spots where it's safe to risk it a bit.
I love me some good hill driving.

Agreed. There are certain special touches about these cars that I love too. The back wing, which is more discrete than the evolution's but still produces a more aggressive demeanor than a standard 190, the low 1st gear, which gives way to a 2-5 H pattern and I really really love the euro headlights. The way they sit is just much more stylish than the US'.

Are you considering one?

not currently. It's not financially something I can do right now, I was just on CL, about to look for some clean mk1/mk2 vw's like I tend to from time to time and noticed this in the general listings. When I read it I expected a big project and was pleasantly surprised, I rarely get to see one so clean that is stock like that, and if I had the extra cash I'd pick it up tomorrow no questions asked.

Hopefully you can get one later before they shoot up in value.
I saw a cool videos on YouTube made by owners of this car. It has a cult status amongst a small group of people.
