Kinja'd!!!

One of my clients, a collector car insurance company, just handed over to me about 11 years worth of material (full issues) and the rights to use Collector Car Magazine. The magazine was shutdown in 2012, but everything up to 2008 was published by someone who now works for Heacock Classic. Most of the photography and articles have never been seen anywhere on the internet. I'm talking insightful 2000-3000 word articles with stunning print-quality photos.

It's fucking gold, people.

Now, obviously most of this content is going to be published to their blog, but my question to you Oppo is how you would like to see it promoted. I've !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! my !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! writing !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! their !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! to Oppo regularly, and it seems to be well received.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

This content is going to be completely non-promotional. Heacock Classic has given it to me mostly because they're just car guys that hate that all of this beautiful car goodness just sit on CD-ROM's and DVD's in a warehouse instead of being enjoyed. And if hey, enjoying some of it makes you think of Heacock next time you need to insure a car, then so be it.

If I promise to, at no point, be salesy or promotional of Heacock Classic whatsoever, would it be cool with you all if I write some Oppo articles promoting some of the very best of this content? Anything I should keep in mind?

Dude, Oppo's been wanting for it's own classics blog for years, now. Just start posting under, say, ccm.kinja.com or classiccamag.com or something...

make a "retro" blog, amd try to coordinate releases with months, like articles released the first month of the week, or if there are specific columns, have them released on specific days.

I think theres every reason to do this.

So who owns it? You or Heacock? It sounds like they own it and are publishing it on their blog and you're promoting it?

Neither, it's an employee of Heacock Classic that used to be the publisher of the magazine. Out of professional dedication and the goodness of his heart, he handed it all over to me to get some eyes on their brand on the web. They are a client of the ad agency I work for and I help them with online marketing stuff like SEO, so this is like a dream come true for me. Tons of content to help their website, and me and another gearhead I work with get to curate it all.

Ah thats pretty cool! Once it's published though, I would think Heacock would own the rights. Certainly will help the SEO efforts and be a great read! I'd just be careful and get the rights laid out in writing so there are no hard feelings down the road, as I've seen these sort of things turn ugly.

Much appreciated advice, and yeah, definitely on that.

It's all going to be properly cited and transparent what we're doing. I think folks are going to love it, I got sucked into an issue for like an hour today. I shall SR20 this cornucopia in the next week or so.
