Hey fellow Opponauts:
My 2008 Subaru Outback 2.5xt is getting long in the tooth (for me). I'm in this really pretty spot where I can sell my vehicle, and purchase a new one. It came down to really the following criteria.
- Needs to be a wagon-ish car
- Need to be big enough to haul some stuff, and potential kids
-Needs AWD
- Needs to be able to get out of its own way
Tested the following vehicles:
-Audi Allroad - Good and fast. Good price since they're heavily discounted. Too Small
-BMW 328i sportswagon - Same as above
- Subaru Outback - Easy choice and most affordable but no more Turbo or pano roof
- Volvo XC70 T6 Platinum - Most expensive, but that T6 inline is awesome.
When all was said and done, I'm still torn. The Outback is nice, but it's just not that exciting. The H6 gets out of its own way, but isn't as exciting as I hope a car can be. At 33.5k fully loaded, it's a great deal. No payments!
The Volvo is the biggest surprise, but I know that the model is going to be phased out soon in favor of a V90 Cross Country. But, that T6 is sweet and the car is still very nice for something released in 2008. The 2015.5 sensus connect system w/ Chrome Browser and app control is the biggest suprise. It's also more expensive at $47k specced to my liking. I'd have to carry out a 2 year loan for this vehicle.
Am I missing something here guys? Should I wait for something on the horizon? I'm actually pretty torn.

Allroad for sure, it's just as capable as a Subaru but also can dress up for BUSINESS .

The Audi was too small? Was it new?

The 2014 or 2015 Allroad. Basically an A4 avant. Too small for baby seats or a tandem bike.

I was ready to sign for an allroad, but the back seats are too small for a baby seat, and it's overall too short for a tandem bike...

How about a Q5 then? Wouldn't that work?
It's not a wagon, but it's wagony enough.

Don't know where you're located or what your budget is but a quick search of the interwebs found me this CPO E-class.

Is there a reason you wouldn't want to go with a used 535 from Carmax with a warranty?
If not check out the turbo model Forester. (although I'd still pick an '06-'08 XT) We had car seats in our '06 Forester but rear facing had to go in the middle seat. The newer ones do have more space. 0

I've driven the Q5 and it really is a great drive. Size wise it sounds like it would fit what you need really well.
