It's a Daewoo Lanos. Sold in America from 1999 to 2002, it was one of the worst new cars on the market during that time. GM bought Daewoo in 2002, and sold replacement for the Lanos as a Chevrolet. That car was the Aveo.

I thought it was a civic hatch with some kind of bmw wannabe front end at first.

What? you don't follow the Intergalatic Daewoo challange?

Kinja'd!!!

One of our hillclimb competitors has a wrecker service. He towed in this Daewoo a couple of years ago and it sat in his lot. Someone had a broken car-so for laughs they tried to fire it up—after a year + 1/2 it started right up! They gutted the gross smelling interior + installed a fire ext. + brought it to the hill. (He drive the wrecker to the events-so if it died, just tow it home + scrap it.) Yes-it was slow-but it survived. So they brought it to another hill. A few different people took turns-and all had great laughs from it. *Fun fact: if you leave it in low, it will shift to second on its own!

Soon there was a line of people who wanted to take a run in it. Since we all drive different things, this way we could compare each others times. One hill there were like 10 different drivers! All beating the living shit out of it. And guess what? it still is running after 5 years! And yes-I have taken a couple of turns.

That's really awesome! It appears that the only Lanos' that still exist are the ones that actually run.
