We suffer from a dearth of '39 Mopar 'round here.

"A completely rust-proof Safety Steel body."

Completely rust proof?! Too bad this advance technology can't be found on today's cars.

"rust-proof ed ". A subtle distinction from "proof", it is properly translated "we put on some good paint and actually sealed the seams, so it probably won't be rusty when you get it. Swearsies".

In fairness, a '30s Budd steel body is hella thick. Very hard to actually rust through unless somewhere salty, though the pitting can be ludicrous.

Oh well such is the lifespan of early automotive steel and iron. They may not the best the cars to withstand cold midwest salty winters but they sure are some of best looking

Speaking of rust, I've been able to devote very little time to it, but I think my Ranchero is no longer at risk of breaking in half. The firewall and firewall/rocker panel interface area on both sides is repaired, so it's now held together by that and the a-pillars. The floor is doing approximately bupkis.

That is always wonderful news to hear that a car is no longer at risk of breaking in half! I remember you saying you had a Ranchero but I forget what year it is. Also I have never seen you post about it.

'63. I've actually mentioned to you specifically that your Capri rust issues are as nothing to what I have:

Right below where that first pic cuts off was solid rust.

Yeah I remember you mentioning it I just could not remember the year. I always liked the little 63 Ranchero. The rust on that lithe guy is insane but it looks like in the second picture you seem to be fighting it off well. The taillights you got from a Cortina I believe. How is the project coming along?

The second pic is shortly after I got it - as you can see, apart from the floorboards, the roofline, what you can see in the first pic, and that area in front of the rear wheels on both sides, it's not all bad rust-wise. I'm not making much progress of late - too busy at work, but I'm hoping to get closer to putting in floorboards this week. I may even get them tacked by this weekend.

I'd love to see the pictures posted on Oppo when you get it done. Life does it get the way sometimes but the nice thing about a project it no matter how long you are away from it, it will always be waiting obediently for you when you return to work on it.
