Too many times I hear locals and tourists complain about the traffic and how faraway places are from each other. The problem, as they view it, is that there is only two ways to get anywhere and everyone is always using them all the time. There is an interstate and a highway that run parallel to each other and connect all the towns. Sure, it can be the fastest way but as we all know fastest isn't necessarily the most fun.
Stray from either of these options and in moments you are carving through the landscape. The only people who use these back roads are the people who live on them, and they mostly use them to get back to a main road. I use them to avoid the built up areas and enjoy the local scenery.
I'd like to share my drive from yesterday and to make a long video slightly digestible, I supplied time stamps for the songs playing from my sweet 90's playlist. So pick your favorite song(don't judge me)and hopefully enjoy the ride.
I had just gotten myself a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and then I head off from inside the largest town.
00:15 Ashes to Ashes - Faith No More
03:58 Epic - Faith No More
08:50 Stripsearch - Faith No More (WTF, 3 FNM in a row? you had one job shuffle)
13:20 Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad? - Moby
17:50 Where It's At - Beck
23:22 Reincarnation Song - Toad the Wet Sprocket
28:00 So Young - The London Suede
31:42 Creep - Radiohead
35:40 Superman's Song - Crash Test Dummies (River Rd begins 36:55)
40:10 Still Remains - Stone Temple Pilots
43:43 Sunflowers - Everclear
47:30 November Rain - Guns N' Roses
I often wonder why these roads were originally made this way. Wouldn't it have been easier to make a straight line? It would at least have made shorter travel distances. What group of mad geniuses with the foresight of driving bliss, thought to sculpt the landscape instead of butchering it? I won't ever complain though. I'll just keep on driving.

Easier to engineer and construct.

The joke about one of my favorite local back roads is all the locals say the engineer in charge just layed asphalt over the land how he found it.

Figured. As a lot of these were probably made by farmers in late 1800's early 1900's then subsequently widened and paved.

The greatest thing in the world is a large highway designed for maximum weekend capacity in a location without towns or cities within hours of you, on an early Wednesday afternoon.

Your selection in songs is great. Ending it in November rain is perfect. Now if only I could watch the video in my damn country.

It appears that it is because of the Moby song. I tried that "remove a song" feature but it is still there.

or the opposite: a freeway designed for maximum commuter capacity. at 2.30 on a Sunday morning. the 405 in Los Angeles actually becomes somewhat palatable!
