On my side of the pond, WRX is roughly the same price as the Audi, if not slightly less.

Here in the UK, the WRX and the Evo are seen as the anti Christ by insurance companies so it ain't happening if you are under 30. It is really annoying as the S3 is quicker than the WRX from the same period and the Type R is much quicker than both of them. Just because a car won the WRC doesn't justify a £12,000 premium.
Edit: or maybe not I just looked on Autotrader and 2002 was a new model year and damm that car is fast. Also there are a lot of fake WRXs in the UK.
