Ths SR-71 is still an amazing aircraft that just captures the imagination.

I just finished watching the second of the two videos at the following link.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

It's an hour and a half long interview with one of the under 100 pilots who flew the SR-71 operationally. He went on to command the wing at Beale, in charge of the SR-71's, U-2's, and related KC-135Q tankers. He goes into many of the operational aspects of flying the SR, which I found quite fascinating, and share here with you all. Enjoy!

Such an awesome aircraft. I would of loved to hear the conversation in the radar room as whatever country it was flying over, just watched helpless, as it tore through their airspace. I wonder if the specs released on its performance are accurate.

i grew up literally three blocks from the Air Force Museum in Dayton. I would just stair in awe of this beast. My daughter is finally old enough to enjoy it and it's the first one we walked to. That and the stealth bomber!
