Need some help on this somewhat slow Friday afternoon. I started at a new company about three months ago, and I've decided I need some toys at my desk. Currently I have a Lego coffee mug on a custom-built, tracked platform. It's fun, but I never use it. Some parameters:
I have two pod-mates. They are amenable to something new and fun.
I have somewhat limited space, but could probably finagle some more.
Needs be able to be played with, not just static models.
Previous toys have included a gigantic Rokenbok setup (base plates are Lego-compatible!)…
… radio-controlled cars, including a fast, yellow Tamiya TA03R-S Porsche 911…
… and a ridiculous 1/43-scale SCX Compact slot car track:
I'm thinking something car-related (clearly), but am otherwise undecided. I have a metric shit-ton of the SCX Compact track, far more than I could set up at home, much less at the office. Indeed, what you see in the picture is about 1/4 of the total pieces I've hoarded. I have HO-scale, too, mostly Tomy/AFX. I could do something with Matchbox/Hot Wheels/Tomica cars, like an old Hot Wheels Sto & Go folding playset or a Matchbox parking garage.
This is pretty cool, too:
I could even find some H0-scale (for model trains) structures like buildings and roads for the itty-bitty 1/87-scale cars I have collected over the years. I could also continue on the Lego theme – have a metric shit-ton of that as well – and do either a Lego City or some Expert Builder/Technic sets. You know, something people can lay hands on.
What do you think, fellow Opponauts? What should I be looking at?

I'm not going to give valuable imput but to say that you have an awesome workplace if you can have stuff like that. Then again I've never worked in an office...
Model trains would be good though.

If i could do model trains in my office I would be so happy, but that would not go over well at all

Oh man, I forgot all about my sto&go playsets. I've gotta dig those things out, lol.
I'm jealous that you can get away with doing neat stuff like that at work!

how tall are your ceilings? I have a radio controlled helicopter on my desk that's a lot of fun even though it kind of sounds like a dental drill

Ceilings are pretty tall, but there's also a lot of stuff hanging from them - lights, ducts, speakers, pipes, and a metal network track running our CAT-5 and other datacom cabling.
