As previously reported, I've been doing a medically monitored, highly restrictive diet with my wife for the past couple of months. I'm in the final phase now, which is a transition back to "regular food." I get some carbs, real breakfast, a bit more fat. Pretty easy, truth be told.
ANYWAY, I had a meeting at 11 across town, and on the way back to the office my carpool decided to stop for lunch at one of those Mongolian fire bowl, make your own stir-fry joints. I figure - what can it hurt? It looked like I could eat more or less on my diet (bell peppers, broccoli, lean meat, etc) with the rice noodles being the only deviation. At this point in the diet, I figured it would be safe.
I barely made it back to the office before my ass fell off. It was a fully blown inverted Vesuvius, with heretofore unprecedented sound and fury.
Prior to starting this diet, I had pretty frequent IBS - at least once a week something would set me off. Since starting the diet, I've had none. Zilch. Why, I wonder? Maybe minimal sugar. Minimal starch. Minimal simple carbs. NO processed junk. Basically whole foods, a solid majority of it raw. I've been eating diet-mandated space food for breakfast (recently switched to steel cut oatmeal, low fat yogurt, turkey bacon, etc), salads with tuna or chicken for lunch, then a mix of grilled or roasted veggies with lean meat at dinner. But one meal with some mystery sauce, cheap "steak", and highly processed noodles sent me back to the goan and kick throne three times in an hour.
Just something to think about, if you have digestive problems. Processed food is EVIL.
By the way, I was officially 208 pounds and 32% body fat exactly two months ago. As of this past Wednesday, I weighed 175.4 pounds with 17% body fat. My blood pressure is now 115 over 73 and my cholesterol is 3.3:1.

Might just be the food itself, or the spices they cook with. Rice noodles are probably not messed with that badly.

Testify! My sister has to stay on the strict Specific Carbohydrate Diet or she gets multiple episodes like that a day. No sweeteners except honey, no grains at all, no starches. It is the only thing that lets her live a "normal" life, poor kid. Nobody I cook for is more grateful than she is, especially when I make bacon for her.
