The other day me and a friend of mine were talking about how we could get around campus easier. Bicycles are everywhere but we want to carry more than 1 person. Faculty and security has golf karts but they're the only ones allowed to have them. We hatched a frankenstein idea of combing bicycle with a golf kart. The principal is that of the 2 seaters bicycle where each person has pedals. Put that drivetrain into a 4 seater dune buggy chassis/frame, or even better somehow create a system where each person has to pedal the wheel they're closest to, and it can be 4wd!

I had pegs on my bike in college. It was a hoot and surprisingly, chicks really liked riding on them.

They are a pain in the ass to use.

We were thinking something that looked cool too, longer wheelbase and more leg power would maybe make it fun?

I can attest to this. Or make your friends pedal and you ride on the pegs

Seen a few guys have girls on their pegs around here, but think about if you could have 3 girls!(;

If they had more than one speed it would be way better.

Is this what you are thinking of? I've used these before and they are heavy as hell.

Oh theres a 4 seater of that? Diesel replied with the 2 seater earlier and I don't want it to look goof like that. Think more bucket seats and lower seating position, and the weight issue can be overcome maybe by not skipping leg day? lol

Putting a motor in it would require us to get it registered and stuff I think unless I can hide an electric drivetrain or something lol And I'm at University of Houston

well then just steal your car then ;) plus then you could get money from it being stolen ;)
Might count as insurance fraud though.

I also built one of these in college. Was probably one of the more fun things I built while there -

Forgot that thing existed, goes a bit slow for having 1hp(hamster power). But think about it if it had 4 people to pedal. Theoretically it could go 4 times faster than that.

No hassle from campus PD or anything about it being a motor vehicle? (assuming that is a 2 stroke right?)

If only pegs weren't plural.

Yeah its a 2 stroke. No issues with Campus PD except for curious looks. its under 50ccs so it gets around all the state motor bike regs. http://www.kingsmotorbikes.com/default.htm

Wow thats pretty badass, looked into the laws and says I just need a motorcycle license. Pretty cheap for a motor compared to the electric hub motors I've been looking at. Only upside of the electric ones is the stealth though.

What state are you in? surprised you need a motorcycle license. Usually there is a carve out for bicycles that you still need to peddle.
As for stealth the motor in these is really easy to shut off with a kill switch and there is a clutch so you can ride it like a normal bicycle. It was really fun to come up behind someone in just peddle mode and then drop the clutch, scare the shit out of them, and zoom past under WOT.
