I know Ebay isn't the best place, and I've never heard of this brand before but they seem like a good deal.
I need new rears before winter hits & seeing how I just started that real j. o. b. life after intern life I'm not sitting well financially yet. Tire rack prices seem closer 200 a piece for this size. I think I'm going to go for these cheapos to at least get through the winter.

Westlake is a Chinese tire brand made by a company that has had government forced recalls in the past. Some of their tires lack basic safety features that are common elsewhere.
Chinese-built stuff made to EU or USA spec and QC is probably fine. Chinese stuff made to their own spec and QC may not be.

Why not buy used if you're just looking for something temporary? Check craigslist for a used set of wheels in your bolt pattern with usable tires already mounted for the winter. Sell them for what you paid when you decide you want to buy good tires for your current wheels.

No. Buy good tires from a reputable source.

Don't know about those tires in particular, but I do know that Really Bad Things Happen when a tire goes haywire. Personally wouldn't be comfortable with these until I knew a lot more.

With tires you are more than likely getting what you pay for.
I can't specifically comment on these exact tires, but I have bought super cheap tires before and they never last half as long as paying twice as much for a good set.

Craigslist tires work if you can find good ones, but the price seems to scale with remaining life, and they are VERY hard to sell at the end of the winter.

I've done this over and over with great sucess. Budgeting for a wheel balancing is worth considering, as I have rarely picked up a set of wheels that is balanced well, despite craigslist ads always mentioning recent balancing
