Went for a nice 2-hour paddle in the kayak this afternoon and decided to risk it and bring my iPhone so I could grab some pictures. I kept it in a Ziplock baggy but removed it (CAREFULLY) to take the shots. The image above is looking out the mouth of San Diego bay. You can faintly make out North Island NAS' munitions pier on the left and Ballast Point and the sub base on the right.

Here is the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! coming into port. One of the local girls.

Kinja'd!!!

This is the live bait station, currently floating next to the sub base near the mouth of the bay.

Kinja'd!!!

Lots of California sea lions and cormorants hang our on the bait station and various and sundry Navy piers and docks in the area.

The Acoustic Explorer was tied off on one of the Navy research facility piers next to the fueling depot.

All-in it was about a 4-mile round trip and my arms are feeling it a bit now. ;)

It's awesome! I live two blocks up and two blocks over from the spot I launch - between San Diego and Southwestern yacht clubs. I built this kayak dolly so I could walk it down the hill and back solo and without using the van. This way I get the upper body workout on the water and the lower body workout getting there and back.

Sea Lions are natures most loud animals. Where I grew up they sat on the log booms and never shut up.
