Is it just me or are the used GTI prices looking pretty damn decent?
I'm finding quite a few 2011+ examples with 20k miles or less for under $20k. It seems like a screaming good deal to me.

Agreed. I've been watching for some time and it's really tempting. I want the above in white.

Right? I just saw one in red I think it was but $18.5, same wheels and options as the one I pictured. Under 20k miles.
Hmmmmmmm

Lol well, they just came out with the new gen. Which is much improved. So bye bye used prices.

Buy one! I have the Beetle version and couldn't be happier.

But you do need it! haha. It has 4 doors, plenty of cargo if needed, and high MPG's. It is the perfect car!

That is a freaking steal too. I wouldn't personally want one, but for someone who doesn't mind the micro-size and 2 doors with little cargo space, pretty sweet deal.

I wish. Financially, it makes most sense to run my car into the ground while I'm developing and assembling my 1-seater.
Though if my car poops out, I probably will buy one

I can make this happen. My mother in law has a new Bug R and Mrs. Spaceball is a fan. I want an all VAG driveway.

There's always the late MkVs too. Just make sure its the TSI and not the TFSI.

Isn't the Beetle R-Line just a bundle of joy? Mine is awesome, and driving one every day makes me way happier than it should.

True. Though if I got something, I'd get something newer. Might as well have something pretty new if I'm getting rid of an old car. MK5 ended in 09, so no need really to buy a 5 year old car, at its youngest.
At least that's to me. I drive probably 500 miles a week.

Well with a quattro, why need the GTI?

I suppose I can imagine they do. I definitely never realized they could be had that cheap though. That's low model Sentra money.

Also, I like the GLI, so #YOLO!

nope! it's a 2012!
got it CPO and I like it too, but I like the fiat more

Very nice, how is the CPO thing going for you?
Also, what do you prefer about the fiat?

The CPO thing is great! I still have 10mo/ 12K miles of the original warranty, before I start another 2yrs/24K miles of CPO warranty.
What's attracting me to the fiat is longer to explain. I guess the main part would have to be it's character. While the jetta likes to party from time to time, the abarth is more of a drunk guy, flipping the world off yelling "ARIVEDERCI MOTHERFUCKEEERS!" I like cars that are loud, proud, and ballsy. the fiat 500 seems to be very ballsy, since it's 160hp city car, that sounds like a 500hp sports car. Besides the character, the car does actually have some go. Nailing it in 2nd after leaving a light quickly results in very high speeds. Also, the car corners beautifully! it dips in, has some understeer, and then the ass decides to catch up, so you're catapulted around. Finally it's looks. It's a mean little fucker, as we all know. The only issue I have with it is that it is an inconvenient car to use.

well thought out. I can see the draw, though it is completely too small for my tastes.

That is the ONLY reason it lost out to the GLI in my car search.
My requirements were (in this order):
Fun to drive
Easy to daily
good equipment
attitude
fun factor
rarity
The GLI lost out in the fin factor part, but the Abarth was much harder to use as a commuter, so sensibility won, unfortunatley

that's why the two car system works best, unfortunately. Though the same principal of the fiat is what I'm building the one seater on. Light weight, enough power but not crazy.
