And I don't mean the fussy post-'54 models either
Seriously, the very first Corvettes, the '53-'54s were gorgeous. Minimal but perfectly chosen trim, almost ideal proportions and toothpaste white paint, Chevy hasn't been able to match it since.

Dat scallop tho!

yeah, the first years were pretty, but that model is so much better looking.

Also go'jus, and props for choosing the oft-overlooked single-headlight '55-'57

So much better looking than the one in the OP.

I don't know that people overlook those. It's 56-57 that look like that, 55 still looks like a 53, only a 53 that you could get a 265 in. I prefer the 61 myself. Quad headlights, contrasting coves, and the 4 taillight rear.

Honestly, they are both ugly. C2 was the prettiest!
And they were much better cars as well!

I respectfully disagree.

I agree with you, but with one caveat: for some reason I've never liked the stalk-mounted rear lamps. The later C1 ones aren't quite right either, though.

I love the scallop.
I like the 612 because it brought the scallop back:

Powerglide? Fuck that.

I agree.

Not bad looking for a Fezza.

Gotta keep that simplicity.

They just aren't the same without the scallop.

Did you ever see the Scaglietti Corvette?

As someone who's been around vette's for a long time, C1's drive like a god damn model T. The mid year cars are slightly better overall, but the early C3's feel the best, especially at speed.

Too bad you can't go over 90 without the front wheels lifting off the ground..

I like 'em all. here's the old man's pro-street '58:

Best? No. But they are beautiful. Back when the Corvette was trying to copy light-weight European roadsters and not be a muscled up super car. Not that I'm complaining about the direction it went...

Meh, I love them all, for different reason every year, but they are all great!

I dunno, my favorite is still the '59:
Just the right amount of glitz!
The rear end on the '53-'54 has some funky bends that don't quite work out. Even worse, the shape of the car causes the exhaust from the pipes to get sucked back up to the driver's cabin. Yikes!
