"Osiris - I can haz Euro spec?" (o51r15)

So I was browsing Amazon looking at Xbox One games. My mother-in-law got me a $50 gift card for my birthday.
I honestly had no idea this was coming to the Xbox One. I thought it was a PC only game. How much are they going to have to remove or re-do to take it from the driving simulator that was told should be played with a driver's seat style setup to bring it to a controller style game? Will it be the same? Will it turn out to be a shitty port? I'm so confused and excited and now I don't know which to pre-order, Horizon 2 or Project CARS.

Expect the graphics to be downgraded severely.

I figured that especially after the graphics of Watch_Dogs got the axe. So which will look better than, Project CARS or Fiveza?

My friend is in the alpha (PC) but he doesn't have a wheel so he only plays it with an Xbox 360 controller.
I can confirm that it plays just fine with the controller, though i'd describe the physics as feel a little bit "need for speed shifty." These games feel a bit like they've taken the limits of adhesion and stretched them a bit, so you're almost always on the limit even when you aren't going that fast. Cars are constantly moving around and under and oversteering all the time, not just when you're at 10/10ths.
I dunno if i've described that well or not, but my main point is that it works just fine with a controller (and that i'm not totally in love with the physics, but i'm not against them either)

Hmm...so would it be better to wait until this game hits $30 or so? Which would you say is better, CARS or Fiveza?

I wouldn't know as I don't play racing games.

Physics wise, Fiveza is better IMHO. But i've only played the alpha for project cars, so they could've changed things. But i really doubt it will have a better handling model than Fiveza.
That said, i'm still planning on buying Project Cars. It's track selection is incredible (it includes multiple really long windy point to point roads) and the graphics are top notch. I'm sure it'll be fun, but if you're only choosing one, i'd take Forza 5 and not even think twice.

I already have Fiveza, my dilemma is do I pre-order Horizon 2 or CARS?

I'm buying this game instantly once the PS4 comes with a bigger hard drive. Racers need a rebirth and I think it's going to happen with this one.

It's pretty hard to judge a physics engine when using a controller. The subtly of steering & throttle input when using a wheel/pedal setup makes a big difference.
I used to be involved in the RACER community way back in the day, and when I switched from using a PS1 controller to a Logitech Driving Force Pro, it felt like a different game.
Haven't driven Project CARS, just generalizing here. But honestly, with those graphics I think I'd settle for NFS physics as I drool my way around a track.

Yeah, its a bit of a guessing game. I will say this though: I've played a lot of Need For Speed: Shift, which has a related physics engine. I've played NFS shift about 50/50 controller and wheel, so i feel like i have some grounds to talk about the physics even though i've only ever played CARS with a controller.

The reason the physics feel so bad is because, as you mentioned, you're playing with a gamepad. To keep the cars on track with a gamepad a few driving aids are a bit exaggerated, however playing with a wheel with every driving aid turned off gives a really fun, super awesome driving experience.

I dont necessarily think the physics feel bad, i think they feel less realistic than some other games I've played. I will DEFINITELY be purchasing the game.
That said, i never play with any driving aids, save sometimes ABS, controller or wheel. It makes me really uncompetitive with high end cars in Forza and such (where everyone uses TCS,) but whatever. I can't stand TCS or stability control, and I love when games give you the option to have a clutch on the controller.
I play a lot of racing games with a controller, but I also have a fanatec CSR wheel. Some games work well with both, others (cough Assetto Corsa cough) are much much better with the wheel. My money is on project cars being in that earlier group though, i think they've put the time in to make the game drive well with a controller.

Actually, it shouldn't be too bad since Racing games are highly structured and offer limited paths for the player to pursue. That means, for lack of a better metaphor, you can "hard code" the visuals since you know the player will not ever be able to deviate beyond a certain point.
