I have been looking at a Civic Si for a little while, went to check it out the other day and it was immaculate. Beautiful paint, new brakes/tires/clutch, 100,000 miles. Theeeen I checked the carfax. Every single thing he told me was a lie. He said the car had a clean title...the vehicle was a total loss. He said 100k miles...last reported was 140k. Said it spent all its life in NC. It grew up in Minnesota....Check the Carfax Kids!!!

Print off the CarFax. Give it to the guy, and offer half what he was asking for it.

A lot of people don't want to spend the small amount of money for a carfax. It's worth it for the piece of mind. It doesn't tell the whole story but it can save you from a thousands of dollars mistake.

hey monkey puzzle my brother from another mother. I have been looking at an EP3 lately and it is selling for a extremely good price. The only downside's as far as I am concerned are it is lowered very low and he has some nasty indiglo gauge faces on. He claims that the gauges underneath were in shitty condition somehow. I know the springs are and easy enough fix but what about the gauges? I am not very mechanically inclined but would the entire gauge cluster need to be replaced?

I dont know how the gauges could be broken and an indeglo overlay still work. very odd. honestly not sure what the issue could be but seems unlikely the whole cluster would need to be replaced

Maybe he didn't say broken maybe he said they were scratched up or beat up or something I don't know. I like this car but I'm super weird about gauges I need them stock and I'm just trying to figure out what type if work will be involved in returning them to stock.

thats entirely possible. [possibly even the addition of the glo overlay involved glue and such.
possibly a thing you could trade on criagslist with someone who has stock and wants to rice theirs out a bit. Same could be said for the suspension. trade your low springs for stock with someone looking for some cheap mods.

additional note: replacing just the plastic front on the gauges if it is scratched is easy enough, not sure how easy getting a hole of an unscratched one would be though

I think the clear plastic protecting the gauges is in fine shape, but I am worried if he glued those nasty gauges on I will be stuck with them. That's my only major turnoff on the car. Its a clean 2004, clean carfax, 76,000 miles, no rust, clean body and interior, CAI, exhaust...for a FLEXIBLE $6800!!
