If I were to trade in my SHO right now, this is roughly what it would cost me to lease a hellcat, lolzzz:
No way that I'm doing this though... I'd be back to square one at the end of 24 months. It would be a VERY fun 24 months, if I make it through 2 winters alive, here in Michigan.

I love how signing a hellcat lease, provided it is your only means of transportation, is equal to signing away your life, literally.
But! At $67 a month I could afford another car payment for like a $10k-ish winter beater :D I'd still be very sad at the end of 2 years though >_<

A $10k car is not a fucking winter beater, unless you're Bill Gates. A winter beater is a sub-$2k car, usually a sub-$1k car.

Moving from a Taurus SHO a 10k car is by comparison a beater. But perhaps not by definition.

The most expensive vehicle I've owned was $6500 - the cheapest just $250. When you buy a running and driving car for scrap value, *that's* a winter beater.

Haha yeah, I was just in St Louis and it didn't look half-bad down there ^_^, but Michigan has kept me around this long... B)

To some extent having a car for the sole purpose of driving it in winter makes it your winter beater, as it's a car bought for the purpose of preserving your nicer car.
But I can see how $10k is a bit steep for it to be considered as such. <$5k though? I think that's still acceptable beater territory.

Haha, makes sense! You should step into a time capsule and make an ad for the Montego :D
I'm in supply chain mgmt/purchasing/logistics, so I can work ANYWHERE. It could potentially take me to automotive, I am currently in automation, so it wouldn't be a stretch, at all.

Yeah, I've been on the configurator a couple times since it went up. I'm just thinking that maybe it'd be the best worst decision I've ever made.
Would be pretty rad to be the first Jalop to have one, especially since I'm only 28. I imagine it'd generate the angriest of angry comments in the history of Oppo.

A winter beater is something where it's cheap enough that you don't feel bad when the rust gets worse or if it gets dented. I sure don't make the money where I can feel that way even towards a $5k car.
These are winter beaters to me:
$1300 '04 CVPI - http://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/cto/462748…
$1000 '02 Cavalier - http://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/cto/466193…

How do you like being in that field? I'm asking because I'm a college freshman in a business school with no idea of what major or job I plan on having in 4 years

I'm liking the field, there's a lot of different ways to go with it. Also, very importantly, I can't stress this enough, you will NOT have a hard time finding a job provided you have a decent GPA (above 3.0) and you've done at least one internship. At my school we had 100% job or grad school placement (mostly job).
I would really recommend talking to some well liked professors in the supply chain department at your school, that's how I got excited to major in it.

I shall check it out. What kind of stuff does it entail? Do I need to be artistic and such because I most certainly am not that. (Should I start watching Mad Men and assume thats enough?)

haha, it doesn't quite work that way amymore lol
Advertising has tons of jobs in it. Look into account management (not sales, but interacting with clients).
We can chat more about it tomorrow.

I know it doesn't I just wanted to make a joke haha. And it sounds interesting I'll definitely give it a look. At present I'm just taking intro classes so Bus 001 and Econ 001, that type of stuff and I have really no idea of what major I should choose so you guys are being very helpful!

One question. Would advertising fall under Marketing, or should I be looking under a different category to find that type of major?

Hmm... Although with the way Dodges depreciate:
Trade in your Hellcat for another Hellcat fresh off lease. Payment goes up another $67 a month but now you own the second one ;)

I am currently in purchasing, it probably makes up about 50% of my job. The rest is arranging trucks for shipment of our product, dealing with RMA's and meeting with potential vendors.

Hahaha, good idea :D Even though it's kind of fucked up to put a $20k down payment/trade-in on a lease lol.

The best plan is to get into a legit Advertising Major. I graduated from Michigan State which has one of the top 5 Adv programs in the country, which, thankfully they had a good program because I was originally there for the Marketing major. Advertising fell under the college of Communication Arts, not business though.
Where do you go to school?

Oh Lehigh, I thought about applying there, wanted something huge though lol.
A quick search tells me you'd have to go Marketing or Business Management there.
Though Penn State has an ADV program, though I doubt you'd want to transfer. If you're not going the creative route (art, digital, or writing), Marketing or Business Management may work out just find for you to get into an ad agency.

Lehigh wasn't my first choice but I think it was a pretty awesome decision. They party like a top state school, but with great academics and its not too huge so you actually see people you know often which I like

I came from a pretty huge high school in NJ so I wanted good academics and a giant school. I also wanted sports I could watch on TV and go to a giant stadium.
my top 3 were Michigan State, Penn State, and UMass (obviously UMass was a step down in sports lol).
PSU and UMass wanted me to swim for them, and so did almost every small/private school in eastern Pennsylvania. As I was looking for Marketing, MSU's program was ranked in the top 20 in the country and PSU was back in the 40s. When I got into MSU it was a clear cut decision because of the Academics.
And after all that I switched to Advertising anyhow, which worked out, like I said - top 5 program.
My bit of advice I can really give you is to take it into your own hands. If you're interested in something GO AFTER IT. Took me longer than it should have to figure that out while at MSU. I got my own internship (school wasn't helping much, though in 05/06 there weren't a lot to be had due to economy) as a Sophomore and had another one within weeks of graduating. Those two internships got me in the door at Chevy's ad agency only 4 months after graduation.
I read something recently that was a perfect description of how to balance priorities in college. it was this:
Sleep more than you study, study more than you party, party as much as you possibly can.
Figure out that formula, and it'll all work out

Thats a good formula haha. I also applied to Penn State, and I got in, but didn't get in to their honors college so in the end I decided that Lehigh was the better fit for me socially and also academically. Plus Lehigh seems to have a very good alumni network which helps a lot of grads or students get internships and jobs. Oh, and the fact that the man behing the mustang went here is also kinda cool. Thanks for all the advice man
