A 2013 Moto Guzzi V7 Stone to be exact. Not too much power for a first bike, and not too nice for a first bike. A used one is about the same as a new Honda CBR300R which apparently is not the bike it should be. Anyone else have a Guzzi?

750cc isn't too much power for a first bike? I dunno. I'd start smaller, but that's just me.

Really? I thought people were digging the 300. I wanted a CB300F for a first bike. That or a CCW Misfit.

I thought those things were supposed to be pretty pricey? Just get a grom.

Remember, it's a Harley engine, so it isn't overly powerful. It would be more of a cruising engine.

Hmmm....good to know. I need a starter bike and like the looks of these. Used to riding dual-sports though. I bet everything feels different.

Can't speak to the CBR300R but I got a CBR250R as my first motorcycle and have been happy with it. It was supper cheap for a new bike. Plus parts are inexpensive so you don't have to as be worried about dropping it like you would with the Guzzi. If I have the room/money I plan to hold onto it when I get the next motorcycle.

It probably is faster than I am giving it credit for, but it's only 50 hp and it weighs nearly 400 pounds without the rider.

What? No, it's not a Harley engine...

They're slow and have a low CG, good starter bike.

I had one as a loaner when my Tuono V4 was at the dealership. I rode it around for a week, absolutely loved it. It Makes 1/3 the hp and most of it was designed before 1975, but it was just so charming and relaxing. I got more people asking me about it than my Tuono. Certainly not a performer though, the transmission is downright agricultural and the build and finish quality are low for a bike that MSRP's for nearly 9k. Something about those pistons rocking it back and forth make it feel alive though.

I'm pretty sure them and Buell both use(d) Harley engines. They may not any more, but I'm 95% sure they used them up until the late 2000's at least. Edit: It was MV Agusta, my bad.

It isn't a Harley engine, it was MV Agusta that I was thinking about. Either way, still only 50 hp.

Sorry, wrong. Harley has never had any affiliation with Guzzi. Guzzi motors are V twins but the cylinders are arranged facing outward. Harley at one point owned MV Agusta, but no MV's used any Harley hardware. Buell used Harley motors up until the 1125R which used a Rotax twin, and the current Buells (EBR now) use a heavily modified version of the Rotax.

Yeah, Blake Rong of Autoweek and I have been talking about how it might be a good bike. It has only 20 more HP than anything else I was looking at, plus, it's more my style looks wise

dont. those bikes are quite strong and very finiky. for your first bike, stick to under 500ccs
