Thinking of doing something along the lines of "What's your fantasy car draft lineup look like?" and make a sheet that has specific positions for specific types of cars. That's on what would be what?
For example:
Here are some early thoughts:
QB: Supercar
RB: Sports Car/GT
WR: Sedan
TE: Wagon/Crossover
Kicker: Hot hatch/microcar
Defense: SUV/Truck
Thoughts? General Rules?

I think that is likely a good set up but I have no idea how they would be scored compared to other teams.

Coach: Automotive Exec (I call Musk)

That could work, I would rate each on data points we already have like HP, TQ, 0-60, 1/4 mile, tow rating, cargo capacity, etc.
As far as how it works week to week. Sales figures? Most hits or mentions on Jalopnik/Oppo?

7 points for a new fast lap.
3 points per bs automotive award
1 point per mention in an article

QB - Hot hatch/crossover. It has to do everything well all the time, while carrying the entire team and showing flashes of brilliance. Can't afford to have it break down like a supercar.
RB - Miata/small GT/sports car. Fairly interchangeable... some are considerably better than others but that makes them much more expensive. You can have a backfield full of Miatas or spring for the F12 Berlinetta (Charles/AP) and hope it doesn't end up in the shop.
WR - These are your high flyers... built for the track. Loud, obnoxious, posters for your wall. Calvin Johnson/AJ Green/Dez Bryant are Pagani Huayras. Jordy Nelson/Steve Smith/Wes Welker are Boxsters/Caymans.
TE - Fast SUVs. X5M/Jeep GC SRT. Have to be large enough to slow down the dumptrucks but quick enough to make space in the secondary.
K - Camrys/Accords/Malibus. No one cares, one is probably as good as the next.

My team is a bit older - maybe Superbowl XX?
QB: Ferrari 288 GTO
RB1: Alfa Montreal
RB2: 1967 Pontiac GTO
TE: AMG Hammer Wagon
Kicker: Toyota Starlet/Datsun 510?
Defense: 1972 Blazer or 1st gen bronco

This would get complicated quick, once points are involved. How does one score?

DEF - Subcompacts, hot or otherwise. A few standout choices, then a big sea of mediocrity, plus a few absolute turds. Unless you have a Fiesta ST or a Sonic RS, you're best off playing matchups. Euro hot hatches are illegal, much as most defense is illegal in the NFL today.

I'd put sports cars as the WR and sedans as the RB
