Anybody have a daily drive with a proper center-mounted tach?
Here is mine, the Subaru BRZ (pictured: RHD, km/h version):
Anyone else have a ride with such a configuration?

Whats a tach? Like attack, or attach? I'm confused.

The C4 has it, tach is on top of the steering wheel, and speedo on the middle of the dashboard.

I had a 2008 Si like this and loved the hell out of it. I remember spending a week with a new Porsche and thinking "why isn't their pannel better than my Civic?"

not mine but same as what I had in my 90 F150
it still stands as one of my favorite looking dash clusters with the large speedo, large tech and smaller opposite gauges.
Also when the tach hit 3500 RPMs it felt like the engine was going to tear itself loose and take off- violently.

how about shift lights on the steering wheel?
my car has the tach to the left, speedo in the middle, but similar to this replacement of the tach with an aftermarket one, I saw years ago someone who went to the effort of putting the tach in a middle, but cannot for the life of me find a picture of the mod anymore, seemed like a ton of work but the outcome was perfect

At least it has the analog tach; I drive an S2000 with the odd digital tach.. That was weird.

The RS200 version of the Toyota Altezza (IS300) swaps the tach for the speedometer and puts it in the center. I'd love to swap mine (Digital speedo!), but it's only in kilometers, and I only recognize freedom units (aka imperial)

My first car was an 1974 Alfa Alfetta GTV. It was a rust bucket. I brought it from an autocrosser who also owned and Lotus Europa. So the car came with an Ansa exhaust and Konis. Hooked on Alfas since!

Yeah, it does stink to only get a few runs, but I enjoy it too much to skip out. I know people in the local porsche club so I do it with them, we end up doing 10 runs or more. Last time I drove my car 10 times and other people's cars for another 4 runs. If you can find a smaller group that does autox maybe you can get the same experience.

Eh, I've done an event where we were literally hotlapping. I think we got around 30 runs. It was a small Cobalt-centered event being held by a local Miata club. I think we had maybe 20 cars. That was pretty fun since most of us were out there in similar cars. When I run the Cobalt in SCCA stuff I'm in SMF, and that's no fun. The car isn't prepped for it like the proper cars for that group are, so I'm much slower.
Maybe next year I'll take the Sonic to some SCCA stuff, since it's bone stock.

I have yet to see bike where the tach was not center-mounted, exception being my Buell that had only a speedo (no tach, nor fuel gauge).
Admittedly, I haven't seen too many bikes yet. Definitely getting another soon!

Yeah, on a bike, especially when you can rev to 11,000+ - you care a lot more about RPMs than speed.
Honestly, I almost never look at the speedo when I'm on my bike, with the exception of being on back roads when there's no traffic.

I don't know about you guys, but the windshield is a better place to mount a tachometer than the dashboard.
After this, someone should put together a list of cars that come with HUD display from the factory for the American market.
