Of my girlfriend's parent's '09 Avenger R/T.

Then I realized no matter how much I praised the generous amounts of rear head and leg room, the perfectly competent at highway cruising 3.5L V6, the huge amount of toys the car had to aid road-trippers, or even how all-day comfortable the seats and ride is...

People would still call it a shit car. And refuse to listen to any of what I say.

So it's just not worth my time.

I second For Sweden. It's a car. Its not as bad as people make it out to bw but it's far from competitive. The way I look at it is that if the Avenger is the worst car on the market, we've come damn far.

That said, it feels 10 years older than my Dart.

Well, it's at least 6 years older.

And it's built on a platform that's probably even older.

So really, it probably is 10 years older.

I'd still rather have one over a Camry, Accord, or Altima.

had a rental for a couple of days on a business trip. It was comfortable and roomie. It didn't scream omg beast mode or anything but I don't think that's the point (though it is rocking the RT barging). Not everyone's cup of tea but I didn't find anything *bad* or wrong that jumped out at me.

It always looked way too tall. Almost compact car like. I didn't care for it's proportions. Overall it wasn't terrible.

It's a decent car, but boring. I'd give the same reaction if I had to do a road trip in anything 4-door FWD economy. My idea of a road trip car is something that is stripped and dangerous enough that it becomes exciting to drive for hours on end.

Here's my gripe with it. I feel it's the most muscular looking sedan in it's category out right now. and yes, it has a huge legroom and it's competent on the highway.

But...

The transmission is Special ed certified at best. Corners are scary above 30mph and impossible about 40mph, stopping distance leaves a bit to be desired, and so does the interior plastic quality.

Give it an 8-speed out of the 200, the 200's suspension, and an interior Re-do, and it'd be best in class.

Test drove one on Saturday when I drove the Si (and an Auto 2011 V6 Camaro) neither left a good impression so I don't post about it but

The avenger's auto searched for gears on the freeway too much. it also had a lot of time between gears. like "as bad as a Nissan versa 4-speed" auto bad. I really disliked it. even manually shifting didn't help much...

Cornering? eh, I'm probably just used to sportier cars, but coming from a V6 Camaro ( a car not known for it's handling prowess) it inspired no confidence in me when driving.

Unless you're constantly speeding up and slowing down, or live where there's a shit ton of hills, the trans should stay in one gear. Period. I know ours did. I never noticed a bad gap either. Is it PDK fast? No, but it's more than acceptable.

No matter how "bad" the Camaro's handing is, a sedan that has absolutely no sporting credentials behind it is going to handle worse. That's just logic.
