!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . I have an old Classic that I keep in our family van, and it stores more music than I will ever hold on a phone. The Classic iPod was, and still is, a brilliant device.

I was actually on Apple's website today before the new stuff announcement and I thought to myself, "Oh my god, they still sell the regular iPod?? People still BUY these??"
Didn't realize the answer was "No and no."

Dammit. It's the perfect player to plug in in the glove compartment and forget about. The only saving grace is that they haven't pulled support in iTunes for anything yet. I have a 1st gen iPod that I plug in occasionally to see if it still works, and so far iTunes still recognizes it.

I was literally just wondering this. As of this typing I am attempting to (yet again) restore my old-ass abused iPod Classic 160GB that has become unresponsive. Each September, I hold my breath that Apple
A: hasn't discontinued the iPod Classic
B: releases a new iPod model with similar or better capacity. Yeah, there's now a 128GB iPhone (finally), but i don't want an iPhone.

If all you want to do is listen to music, where else are you going to find a 160GB music player? The iPod was the first piece of "modern" tech I ever owned, and it was amazing. I go on regular road trips, and I used to stand in front of my CD collection, trying to figure out which CDs to take. When I got an iPod, I took them all. I've still got one sitting on my desk, though the second HD I put in it died. So it's a paperweight now.

Both of the new cars I've bought in the last 4 years can read USB sticks and SD cars which obviates the need for these. I still use a Zune (had terrible experiences with Apple hardware longevity so I bought the competitor) in older cars and on airplanes.
Guess we'll have to buy old used music players for our old used cars in the future.

Go to GameStop and buy a functioning, used Classic iPod for relatively cheap. The one in my van was a used Classic I bought at GS. Hell, they sell them online, but it helps to see the condition before you buy. And if it doesn't function properly, take it back.

The one in my van is a 30GB model I bought used at GameStop for $70. Works great, and runs through my radio.

Don't give them any ideas!

I have used mine virtually every day since 2006. When it dies (it's on its last legs), I will miss it dearly. I have over 250GB of music on my PC, and I love the ability to play most of it anytime, anywhere.

I'm in Canada. I don't think EB Games (owned by GameStop) sells used devices, but I could be wrong.
There aren't any on my CL or kijiji.
Future Shop has new ones on sale for $229 (reg. $249). For what 250 bucks gets you now a days, that's more than I want to spend. I might have to bite the bullet, though. Either that, or get a smartphone that will accept a 128GB micro SD card

I chose a classic as my in car device because you can use it easily without looking, unlike the completely touch screen newer versions. I concur, this is a sadness, real buttons are useful

I got a 30 GB one currently being used as a paperweight on my shelf due to a bad battery, and broken clickwheel. I just need a $20 battery to use it again.
