Bored in Lit class, so why not? $6k seems like a lot for a 3rd Gen, but this one has low miles and some rare options. So I'm not so sure.

AKA the slowest Trans Am ever made. I owned an '88 Firebird Formula and loved it.

NP! Cross Fire Cars are hard to find and third gen prices are starting rise for good cars. I've been looking for a 82-83 Cross Fire Camaro and a decent car anymore is pushing near 10k

At least it's a V8.
If it's clean and original... MAYBE.

That is very very nice. Great candidate for a nice LS swap dd!

Thats about what it's worth I think. Those PMD seats are in great condition. This would be an ideal candidate for a K.I.T.T./K.A.R.R. clone.

I know the Crossfire 305 wasn't the greatest, but was it really slower than the N/A 301?
And I bet that Formula was awesome. Was it a TPI one?

Probably darn close but remember that the 301 was the weakest optional V8 and this was, at the time, the strongest.
My Formula was an appallingly junky car and it was sooooo good in the corners. Drank fuel like crazy. And sadly no, mine was TBI

I agree. I can't even think of the last time I saw a Crossfire 3rd Gen, let alone a Crossfire T/A. Are they really pushing $10k now? That's a huge surprise. Glad they are finally getting some respect.

Yep. The only thing wrong with this car is the stock motor can't live up to its go-fast looks.
Do an LS swap and and you're golden.

It's one of the nicest 3rd Gens I've seen in a long while, for sure. I'm torn on the LS swap, since Crossfire T/As are quite rare. But an LS swap on that would be SO badass.

Ive only ever seen a handful of third gens this nice. And they are always 10k cars. Also rare, yes. Nice no, lol

yeah they are I was watching a clean 83 Z28 on eBay a while ago.
My grandparents have a 91 Z28 convertible and its clean but just needs a little work but nice 91-92s (coupe and t top) are starting to around $8-9k while a Z28 convertible is $10-12k for a nice clean car.

NP. Awesome, gorgeous example, albeit slower than new Versa.

I think its pretty darn nice. Especially those seats, since you can't really find them anymore. It would be ideal for a K.I.T.T./K.A.R.R. replica, but I would love to see it stay original. You just don't see original early 3rd Gens anymore.

Yeah, sounds right. The N/A 301 was also offered in the 2nd Gens, was a heavier car, so I think that was slowest.
Sounds like a fun car regardless, in my opinion.

That still surprises me that they're in the five figure range now. I'm glad they are getting some more respect. And yeah, I'm not saying the Crossfire is good :D Just saying that it was a rare option that would be worth saving.

Ah, I see. I found an '82 Camaro Pace Car with the Crossfire a while ago, but that was the last one before this.
The Z28 convertible and later Z28's in general I can understand, since those are still great cars by today's standards. The earlier 3rd Gens were kind of disrespected, though, so that's why it surprises me.

Agreed on all counts, for sure. You won't look nearly as badass in a Versa, though! You also won't get a V8 growl, RWD, pop-up headlights, or T-Tops in a Versa :D

100% agree. I would take this over a Versa in a New York minute.

honestly the 91 is so underpowered its not funny, plus the third gen was not designed to go topless the body has soo much flex in it. My grandparents have toyed with selling it and i might buy it, but its going to need either heads, cam, exhaust, or a complete 350 swap.
The Coss Fires have a bad rep due to poor quality, in the camaro what makes them rare is that only cross fire Z28s got a special fiberglass hood with working hood flaps to pull in fresh air. Plus the cross fire was only available in 82-83

Is theirs a TPI 350, or is it a TBI 305? I was thinking of the TPI 350, but the TBI 305 would make sense for being underpowered. Yeah, Chevy wasn't really thinking with that convertible. It cost too much, and was not executed in the best manor. I think it would be a decent investment, as 3rd Gens keep rising in price, since they hit rock bottom a short while ago. Plus, I think the convertible was only '87-'92 on the 3rd Gen.
I knew they were disrespected, for both power and quality, as you said. It was really put to shame when the L69 was released. That's why it was only '82-'83. Didn't know that the Crossfire models had a special fiberglass hood, though. Guess you learn something new everyday!

no their 91 Z28 is a 305 TPI, couldn't get a 350 in a 5 spd or convertible or California but the Z28s still got tuned port injection. Its a nice cruiser but doesn't live to the Z28 badge
Yeah the hood is often never mentioned but my grandparents also bought a brand new Cross fire camaro in 83 and still had it when I was born in 92. I loved riding in that car.
The loos looks that same as the Carbed Zs but the flaps worked on a crossfire car

Ah, I see. Didin't really think about California. That surprises me, usually the TPI 305s are at least decent.
I figured as much. Most people don't even know that Crossfire was offered on a Camaro, so that makes sense. It sounds like a cool little feature, though.

I think it mainly has to deal with the extra weight added by being a convertible. It sounds great for stock car, if I get it headers, cam and at least the SLP tuned port runners to help wake the 305 up.
